The Anthropology Department at SIUC is a research-oriented program offering both master's and doctoral degrees in four subfields. Three current faculty members have been named SIUC Outstanding Scholars, and 7 students in the department have won the annual SIUC Outstanding Dissertation Award in the eighteen years it has been awarded, including six in the last nine years. One anthropology student also won the Outstanding Master's Thesis Award for 2003.
