Paleontology, functional morphology, and systematics of vertebrates are the foci of the curriculum leading to a PhD in Anatomical Sciences. Students in this program pursue research analyzing vertebrate structure and function in relation to adaptation and evolutionary history, including such questions as the origin of birds and the evolution of human upright walking.
