Carnegie Mellon University Carnegie Mellon's MS and PhD programs in robotics are highly research oriented and interdisciplinary in nature, drawing from such fields as computer science, electrical and computer engineering, and mechanical engineering. Students may specialize in machine perception, artificial intelligence, manipulation, autonomous vehicles, manufacturing automation, or other areas.

Southern Illinois University Carbondale The MS in mechanical engineering degree program provides advanced study in energy, energy from gas and liquid coat conversion, catalysis, mass and heat transfer, computational fluid dynamics, thermal science, thermal systems design, solar systems design, chemical and biochemical processes, air pollution control, mechanical systems, computer-aided design, composite materials, and ceramics and tribology. Students and faculty members conduct research in the College of Engineering's many state-of-the-art laboratories and research centers, including the Center for Advanced Friction Studies, the Coal Research Center, and the Materials Technology Center.
