SOCIAL WORK

Social Work

Stony Brook University, State University of New York
The PhD program is one of the few social welfare doctoral programs focusing exclusively on policy-related research. Emphasizing health, mental health, and social welfare issues, such as aging, poverty, and homelessness, this interdisciplinary program prepares students for teaching and research positions in government, the university, and throughout the nonprofit sector.

Widener University
Widener's MSW program prepares students for agency-based clinical social work practice through small classes, an integrated and individualized field placement, and collaborative relations with faculty and other students. The program has full-time and part-time tracks as well as advanced standing and regular admissions. The Ph.D. program develops academic leaders with skills in scholarly research, teaching, and advanced clinical practice. On a part-time basis, students are engaged in targeted course work and mentoring relationships with faculty such that degree completion can occur within 5 years.
