Increase in Rates Payable Under the Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve

Fiscal year 2003 rates for the monthly educational assistance payable to reservists under the Montgomery GI Bill ¿ Selected Reserves have been published by the Department of Defense. These rates, which are effective from October 1, 2002 through September 30, 2003 reflect a 1.5% increase. Student veterans receiving GI Bill benefits who are enrolled half time or more are eligible for the increase, retroactive to October 1, 2002. Reservists enrolled in apprenticeships or on-the-job training are also eligible for the 1.5% rate increase. Student veterans enrolled less than half time are paid 25% of the full time rate.

The new monthly rates for education assistance are as follows:

Full time - $276.000
¾ time - $207.00
½ time - $137.00
¼ time - $69.00

Apprenticeships and on-the-job monthly training rates are:

First six months - $207.00
Second six months - $151.80
Remaining time - $96.60
