Department Begins Enforcing IPEDS Reporting Requirement

The 2003-2004 Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) collection cycle will be starting in the very near future. At the recent CCA convention in Las Vegas, and again at the NASFAA Conference held two weeks later, Department of Education officials stressed the importance of institutional compliance with IPEDS reporting requirements. Institutions participating in any of the Title IV federal aid programs are required to complete and submit IPEDS collections in a timely manner. It is important to note that the Department may begin assessing fines and/or sanctions against institutions not complying with IPEDS requirements.

User IDs and passwords for the 2003-2004 cycle will be distributed to institutions on July 23, 2003; registration opens on July 30, 2003; and the fall information collection begins on September 10, 2003.

The complete 2003-2004 IPEDS calendar, general instructions, and preliminary survey information can be accessed on the IPEDS web site at http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/webbase.asp. As updated information becomes available, we will post it on the Regulatory page of the CCA web site.
