Success at Andrew College

Andrew College, located in Cuthbert, Georgia, is a private liberal arts college that helps students build foundations on which to achieve academic and career success.

The college provides a comprehensive range of resources including more than 50 academic programs, small class sizes, talented instructors, and hands-on learning experiences. It offers Associate of Arts, Associate of Music, and Associate of Science degree programs, as well as certificate programs.

Because its program curricula, campus structure, and community are comparable to those at 4-year institutions, students graduate prepared to excel at other colleges and universities. In fact, graduates continue their educations at a variety of institutions. In the past, graduated students have gone on to institutions such as the University of Florida, the University of Georgia, and Emory University.

Division of Fine Arts at Andrew College

Students in the Division of Fine Arts earn associate degrees in visual arts, theatre arts, film studies, and music. They may also acquire certificates in music theatre, church music, and film technology.

As soon as their first semesters of study, students can participate in performing groups, performances, and art exhibits that enable them to gain experience and cultivate their talents.

Furthermore, small class sizes and generous scholarships make it possible for students to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to start their careers or continue their educations at other institutions.

Division of Humanities

The Division of Humanities offers associate degrees in communication arts, humanities, language and literature arts, international studies, and pre-ministry.

Students work closely with talented faculty members to learn about the human experience, strengthen analytical and critical thinking skills, and obtain in-depth knowledge in their fields of study.

They may also study abroad through the college's exchange program with Pai Chai University in Korea.

Division of Math and Science

Students in the Division of Math and Science at Andrew College can choose from a diverse array of disciplines such as biology, computer information systems, pre-nursing, pre-pharmacy, and pre-physical therapy.

The division provides students with a variety of activities that enhance classroom learning, including the professional shadow program, Space Camp excursions, and independent study projects.

Division of Social Science

Through the Division of Social Science, Andrew College provides 14 fields of study including business administration, criminal justice, education, history, social work, and sports management. Its programs offer students outstanding educational experiences that include interaction with industry experts and experiential learning opportunities.

For example, students in the education program complete 30 hours of field education and develop teaching e-portfolios. Students who enroll in the criminal justice program acquire cutting-edge knowledge from accomplished teachers, including a 25-year veteran of the FBI.

Furthermore, history students benefit from nearby resources such as FDR's Little White House and the Plains and Indian Mounds. In addition, students in the business program learn from business professionals including accountants and bankers.

Accomplished and Dedicated Faculty

Andrew College employs professionally competent, accomplished, and dedicated professors who practice and promote lifelong learning and are actively involved in scholarly and publishing activities.

For example, Amanda Knight, who is a faculty member in the Division of Humanities, served as Project Director for the US Department of Education Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad for college professors and other educators. She also authored the book "Punctuation Decoded."

The Andrew College Community

Andrew College inspires students to grow beyond the classroom into well-rounded individuals. Because 90 percent of its students live on campus, students become part of a close-knit community that enhances their academic, social, and personal growth.

Students can participate in a variety of co-curricula activities including student government, clubs and organizations, community service projects, and intramural sports. They may choose to join a cheerleading team, work on a student publication, participate in the Baptist Campus Ministry, or sing in the Choraliers.

Recreational activities include concerts, dances, intercollegiate sports, pool parties, movies, comedy acts, and shopping excursions.

Intercollegiate Sports Programs

Andrew College gives students the opportunity to pursue their dreams of competing in intercollegiate athletics, including baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, and volleyball.

Student athletes consistently participate on the All Regional Team, and many of them become starters on teams at 4-year institutions.

Spiritual Life at Andrew College

Spirituality is an important aspect of community life at Andrew College. Therefore, students have many opportunities to worship together and nurture their spiritual lives.

For example, they may attend interdenominational chapel services at Andrew College or church services within the larger Cuthbert community. They can also participate in "mission trips" and join organizations such as the Baptist Collegiate Ministries and Wesley Fellowship.

Financial Assistance at Andrew College

Students may qualify for a variety of institutional scholarships such as the Andrew Pitts Scholarship, Presidential Scholarship, and United Methodist Awards as well as athletic scholarships.
