Anna Maria College

Anna Maria College (AMC) is a private, co-educational Catholic institution located in Paxton, Massachusetts, in the northeastern region of the United States. It provides career-oriented, liberal arts education that prepares students for "excellence in education and service."

The college offers students 40 undergraduate programs; distinguished, responsive faculty members; small class sizes; and numerous co-curricula activities including 17 NCAA Division III athletic teams.

Additionally, Anna Maria College provides an Honors Program and study abroad opportunities. It is also a member of the Colleges of Worcester Consortium, which allows students to take classes at no additional costs at 12 colleges.

The college also offers a Fifth Year Option that allows students to earn graduate school credits during their senior years of study.

The AMC Community

AMC provides a welcoming, supportive, and vibrant community that embraces people from diverse faiths and traditions. For example, the Advising Center, Learning Center, Health Services and Counseling Center, and Campus Ministry provide programs and services that help students achieve academic success and personal growth.

Five residence halls make it possible for students to live and take part in a community that is committed to the principles of the Sisters of Saint Anne, the college's founders. Students may also participate in numerous clubs and organizations, service learning opportunities, and a variety of events.

Furthermore, the college's location in central Massachusetts is about an hour's drive from Boston, Massachusetts; Hartford, Connecticut; and Providence, Rhode Island --3 of the nation's most historic and exciting cities.

School of Business

The School of Business integrates theoretical learning, hands-on experience, and individualized instruction to prepare students for careers in an evolving, global business environment. It has programs in financial services, business administration, and sports management, and focuses on the business-corporate, financial services, government, healthcare, not-for-profit, and small business sectors.

School of Education

The School of Education has several programs that train students to be competent educators who maintain integrity in teaching practice, embrace students from diverse backgrounds, support their colleagues, and act as positive role models in their schools.

Programs include early childhood education, elementary education, middle school education, and secondary education. Additional programs include teacher of English, teacher of history, music education, and art education programs.

School of Fire and Health Sciences

Students in the School of Fire and Health Sciences gain the skills and experience needed to serve individuals and communities. They develop a strong foundation in the sciences through classroom learning, hands-on experience, and laboratory work. They also take interdisciplinary courses that help them apply scientific and technological theories and practice within social contexts.

Students can earn bachelor's degrees in environmental science, fire science, emergency medical services administration, health science, nursing, or paramedic science. Additionally, students in the RN to BSN program can complete coursework online.

School of Humanities

Students in the School of Humanities at Anna Maria College can earn bachelor's degrees in English, history, liberal studies, humanities, media communications, theology, or Catholic studies. They may also take courses in the School of Education that prepare them for teaching licensure in various disciplines.

Students graduate from the school prepared to excel in a variety of fields including law/government, library science, media communications, ministry, museums/archives, public relations, and writing/editing/publishing.

School of Justice and Social Sciences

The School of Justice and Social Sciences has programs that integrate theory, research, and clinical/educational methods to help students become well-rounded professionals. The school has a Bachelor of Science program in criminal justice.

It also has Bachelor of Arts programs in human development and human services, legal studies, political science, psychology, public policy, social work, and sociology.

School of Visual and Performing Arts

Students in the School of Visual and Performing Arts develop the skills and experiences needed to pursue a variety of careers or enroll in graduate school. Art students earn Bachelor of Arts in Art degrees with concentrations in art therapy, art education, graphic design, art and business, or studio art.

Music students can pursue Bachelor of Art in Music degrees or BA in Music degrees in voice performance, piano performance, music education, or music therapy.

Financial Assistance at AMC

Anna Maria College participates in federal grant and loan programs. The college also awards merit and need-based grants as well as merit-based scholarships and provides interest-free payment plans.

Study Abroad Program

The Study Abroad program at Anna Maria College allows students to spend a year, semester, or summer living and learning in countries throughout the world.

Students gain many benefits from studying abroad, including learning about other cultures, mastering other languages, meeting new people, taking interesting courses, and building professional skills and experience.

Study abroad participants have visited several countries including Argentina, Australia, China, Costa Rica, England, France, Germany, India, New Zealand, Scotland, and South Africa.

Honors Program at Anna Maria College

The Honors program is designed for high achievers who are committed to leadership, scholarship, and service.

Honors students attend academic lectures, ballets, plays, and musicals. They also participate in the Washington Internship program and complete volunteer service with Habitat for Humanity and the Marie Anne Center of the Sisters of Saint Anne.

Additionally, honors students receive many benefits including preferential on-campus housing, advanced pre-registration, invitations to the annual "Presidential Dinner," and opportunities to present their research at meetings and symposiums.

Distinguished Faculty Members

AMC's distinguished faculty members are committed to creating a stimulating, supportive, and sustainable learning environment. For example, Dr. James Bidwell in the School of Humanities has research interests in German, modern European, and environmental history. He has also helped develop several green initiatives including the Light Bulb Exchange and Share-a-Ride programs.
