Arcadia University: A Global, Integrative and Personal Learning Experience

Arcadia University, located in metropolitan Philadelphia, is a private co-educational university that offers doctoral, master's, bachelor's degrees and certifications of advanced studies, and is renowned for its global approach to learning.

Arcadia's College of Arts and Sciences, College of Health Sciences, School of Education, School of Global Business and the School of Continuing Studies provide real-world, integrative learning experiences through immersion with other cultures, internships, fieldwork, research with faculty, applied learning opportunities, creative endeavors, and Capstone projects. The College of Global Studies is known internationally for academically sound and experientially rich study abroad programs.

Arcadia offers more than 65 undergraduate majors, including accelerated and pre-professional programs. Three-year degrees for high-ability students are offered in Business Administration, Communications, International Business and Culture, International Studies and Psychology. The degree program may include a summer of service learning (overseas or in the U.S.) and a summer internship (overseas or in the U.S.).

Arcadia University is committed to providing students with a wide range of opportunities to explore global perspectives, integrate theory with real-world experiences, and benefit from the personal attention that is the hallmark of an Arcadia education.

The Arcadia University Promise affirms that all students will have a distinctively global, integrative, and personal learning experience that prepares them to contribute and lead in a diverse and dynamic world. It sums up the collective experiences of generations of alumni and the collective efforts of the faculty and staff who create Arcadia's distinguished learning environment. Through interactions with faculty, staff, and peers, students gain self-confidence and respect for others, learn by using the latest technologies, and acquire essential skills that prepare them for a rich and meaningful life.

Global Perspectives and Study Abroad Opportunities at Arcadia University

All Arcadia students participate in a Global Connections Experience and Reflection. This ensures that all students have the opportunity to explore new places and cultures. In a sustained cross-cultural experience, students meet people and learn about a society different from their own. The experience may be completed through study abroad in a foreign country or completed through a domestic study away program in the U.S.

In the spring semester, most first-year students travel with Arcadia faculty and staff mentors for a Preview week of culture, learning and fun to a dozen different countries, including in 2012: Ireland, France, Spain, China, Israel and Cuba. Transfer students have Preview course opportunities that in 2012 included Austria, Italy, Mexico and Romania. The University also has a First Year Study Abroad Experience (FYSAE) for qualified freshman, through which students spend a semester of their first year abroad in London, England, or Stirling, Scotland. The school's robust study abroad program also gives students clear pathways to complete their degree in four years.

Arcadia's student life includes access to numerous clubs, sports and cultural activities.

Arcadia University is Committed to Integrative Learning
