Life at Barry University in Miami, Florida, offers exciting learning opportunities and so much more. Students can choose from more than 75 undergraduate majors and specializations. Barry students work with expert professors. They study by the pool on a campus lined with palm trees. They chat with authors and CEOs after a lecture. They cheer on the NCAA champion Barry Buccaneers tennis program. They spend Saturdays with friends on South Beach or learn how to kayak and scuba dive. They conduct their own research. They intern at multinational companies -- after all, Miami has 700 of them. Barry students embrace a Dominican tradition that values social justice and service to others at a private, Catholic university that welcomes all. They make a difference.

Living near the international city of Miami and learning with students from 80 countries, life at Barry University is anything but typical. Students quickly realize that the university offers far more than classrooms and tests; learning comes from everything around them.

Barry University Offers a Variety of Bachelor's and Seamless B.S.-to-M.S. Degree Programs

Barry University offers the Bachelor of Arts degree program in advertising, art (art history, graphic design, and studio art), broadcast and emerging media, communication and media studies, English (literature and professional writing), general studies, history, international studies, music, philosophy, photography (biomedical/forensic and creative), prelaw, public relations, Spanish (language and literature and translation and interpretation), theater (acting, dance, and technical theater), and theology.

The Bachelor of Science degree program is offered in accounting, applied sport and exercise sciences, athletic training (pre-medicine, pre-physical therapy, and a 5-year seamless B.S.-to-M.S. program), biology (general, marine, and pre-professional ), cardiovascular perfusion, chemistry (biochemistry, pre-dental, pre-medical, pre-pharmacy, and pre-veterinary science), clinical biology (histotechnology and medical technology), computer information sciences, computer science, criminology, education, exercise physiology (pre-medical, pre-physical therapy, and a 5-year seamless BS-to-MS degree program), finance, international business, management, marketing, mathematical sciences (computational, general, and statistics/actuarial science), political science, psychology (forensic and industrial/organizational), sociology, and sport management (diving industry and a 5-year seamless BS-to-MS degree program). Business programs position students to pursue MBA degrees or other advanced degrees in the field.

Barry University also offers the Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN); the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in art and photography; the Bachelor of Music (BM) in instrumental performance, music education, and vocal performance; and the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW).

The campus in Miami, Florida, offers more than 100 academic programs

Barry University enrolls nearly 9,000 students in over 100 undergraduate, professional, graduate, and doctoral academic programs. There are about 2,800 traditional undergraduate students and 4,600 graduate students.

The wireless campus provides a safe, secure environment for students

The university's Department of Housing and Residence Life (HRL) works to create a learning environment on its Miami campus where the student feels cared for and has many opportunities to excel in academics and personal growth. Barry University students live in comfortable residence halls, with access to study lounges, wireless Internet, and cable television. Laundry facilities are also available for use, free of charge. Students may enjoy their favorite meals at the main dining hall and cafes on campus. The menus often feature a variety of international options. Barry students also stay active. The university provides a large recreation center along with a pool, tennis center, dance studio, game room, and more.

Barry University offers several on-campus student organizations and activities that cater to extracurricular and special interests. They provide a complete education that develops learning and skills outside of the classroom. Students are able to develop leadership skills and create lifelong friendships at the same time. They participate in more than 60 student organizations including student government, student media, the fine arts, honor societies, professional organizations, and volunteer projects. From day one, students are encouraged to get involved with the campus community.

The university also provides support and services to international students through the Office of International and Multicultural Programs. This office offers resources and programs to further develop the international dimension of the university. It serves as an advocate and representative for international students and facilitates relationships with academic departments, government agencies, and community organizations.

Students support or compete on one of Barry's 12 varsity teams. A member of the NCAA Division II and Sunshine State Conference, the Barry Buccaneers have won 13 NCAA national championships.

Barry University Uses Rolling Admissions

To apply to Barry University, prospective students must complete an application; submit official transcripts from all postsecondary and secondary institutions; and submit all applicable testing results, including but not limited to TOEFL scores. Students must provide official English translations of all submitted documents. Students should also be sure to check the academic requirements for their intended area of study.

International transfer students who are not U.S. citizens or legal resident aliens may apply if they have at least 12 transferable credits from a regionally accredited university or college.

Applications to Barry University are accepted on a rolling basis, but it is in a student's best interest to apply as early as possible so as to allow time for immigration processing.

After a student is accepted, he or she must pay an enrollment deposit, provide Barry University with proof of financial support; submit a Transfer Eligibility Form (if he or she is transferring from another U.S. institution); and pay a housing deposit (if he or she would like to live on campus).
