Drexel Offers Its Students a Challenging and Rewarding Academic Experience
Drexel University offers a wide variety of academic programs and specialized courses. In addition to the 13 constituent colleges and over 70 undergraduate degree options, Drexel offers accelerated degree programs for students interested in pursuing a graduate degree. Various accelerated degree programs are offered through Drexel's colleges, including the College of Arts and Sciences; the LeBow College of Business; the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science, and Health Systems; the School of Education; the College of Engineering; the College of Information Science and Technology; the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts and Design; the College of Nursing and Health Professions; and the Goodwin College of Professional Studies.
Additionally, Drexel's Pennoni Honors College offers students from all majors an enriched university experience. Honors students can take advantage of specialized courses, colloquia, independent study options, field trips, and more.
The Drexel Co-op Program is Among the Most Successful and Respected in the Nation
Since 1919, Drexel University has partnered with some of the biggest names in business, providing generations of students an experience that most universities just can't match. The co-operative education program, known as Drexel Co-op, is one of the oldest and largest in the nation. From Fortune 500 investment firms to cutting-edge tech start-ups, there are professional opportunities for students from every major and career interest.
The co-operative education program enables students to gain upwards of 18 months of experience before graduation, while in the process exploring career possibilities, networking, and developing a polished resume.
Drexel students attend classes full-time during their first year, but can begin alternating quarters of classroom study with 6-month periods of full-time employment as early as sophomore year. That way, students graduate with more than a respected degree -- they also have the resumes of industry veterans and are ready to compete for desirable professional opportunities.
Drexel University Enjoys the Amenities of the Great City of Philadelphia and Close Proximity to Other East Coast Cities
Located in the nation's sixth largest city, Drexel considers Philadelphia to be its extended urban campus. The city is an international landmark which is rich with history, culture, and a vibrant corporate community. The university is within walking distance of, or a short train ride from, world-class restaurants, a wealth of museums, historical landmarks, theaters, shopping, bustling nightlife, and a variety of athletic events. Students are encouraged to expand their education beyond the classroom to learn from everything the urban campus and the city have to offer.
Philadelphia is a city of neighborhoods, each with its own identity; yet each is distinctly Philly. Some of the key areas include University City (where Drexel is located), Center City, Fairmount Park, South Street, and Old City.
Additionally, with its proximity to New York, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, Philadelphia makes a unique and convenient home base from which to explore some of the East Coast's other major cities.
