Overview

The Eastern Illinois University Advantage

At Eastern Illinois University, students are more than faces in the crowd. Here, students belong to a vital university community.

At EIU, personal relationships are critical.

The university maintains a 15:1 student to faculty member ratio, so students can be sure they will get the attention and hands-on experience they deserve. What's more, Eastern offers 46 different undergraduate majors and its average class size is just 18 students. Those classes are taught by experienced faculty members, each of whom is passionate about his or her field.

Eastern Illinois University blends the best of one-on-one learning experience with facilities & opportunities students might expect at a much larger institution. Eastern takes pride in having some of the very best programs -- rigorous enough to challenge the best students, but with great support and encouragement to help ensure success.

College students from the region won't find a better value than Eastern Illinois University. Eastern's tuition rates and fees are among the lowest of all state universities and the university offers those rates to both residents of Illinois and to all of its neighboring states. In addition, Eastern locks that tuition rate for all 4 years at Eastern so students won't have to worry about tuition increases as they complete their degrees. The university's textbook rental service is a great addition -- which saves the average student as much as a thousand dollars a year.

The university has a variety of financial aid opportunities including merit scholarships for strong academic performers. Prospective students can even check out a personalized merit scholarship instantly by entering ACT or SAT scores and current GPA in the online calculator.

The beautiful 320 acre campus is home to a vibrant and active student life with more than 230 registered student organizations and 30 fraternities and sororities as well as 21 NCAA Division 1 intercollegiate sports.
