College Financial Aid from State Higher Education Agencies

By Peterson's Staff updated on Monday, January 28, 2013

When researching college financial aid, don't forget to look close to home. For opportunities in your area, a great place to start is your state's higher education agency. They may have special programs for college financial aid for residents of the state. Be sure to check it out so you don't overlook why may be a key part of your financial aid package.

In addition to checking with your state higher education agency, don't forget to speak to a financial aid counselor at the schools you're considering. The people who work in the financial aid office have experience in this area. They may be a good resource for finding aid and for discussing the particulars of your financial aid award letter.
