Opportunities on Long Island and New York City Complement the Five Towns College Internship Program

Internships are part of the requirements for most of the degree programs. Students intern at Atlantic Records, Madison Square Garden, Def Jam, Nassau Coliseum, KORG USA, and WBAB/WBLI on Long Island and in New York City, to name a few. Five Towns College provides numerous resources and opportunities for students needing to complete their internships. Manhattan is easily accessible by train, and students find themselves in the middle of one of the most culturally rich areas with the chance to experience such landmarks as Lincoln Center, Broadway, and Wall Street. Five Towns students are able to enrich their educations and develop personally in ways that would be impossible in other locations.

The Dix Hills Performing Arts Center Brings Culture and Entertainment to Five Towns

One of the most distinctive features of Five Towns College is its Dix Hills Performing Arts Center. The center is an excellent resource for students and community members alike. Not only does the center serve as a home for student productions of plays, musicals, and other performances, it also hosts a wide variety of events and brings world-renowned talents to Long Island. Events at the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center include stand-up comedy, jazz concerts, piano recitals, and choral performances.

Student Life at Five Towns College Is Dynamic and Exciting

Involvement with the campus community and the broader community is an important part of the Five Towns experience. Student life is dynamic and exciting with a number of clubs and organizations offered on campus. Some of the clubs available to students include the Music Business Club, Hip Hop Club, Future Film Creators, and Broadcasters Club, to name a few. In addition to clubs and organizations, the school has a student center where recreational activities include video games, movie nights, pool tables, and a gym. These amenities allow Five Towns students to interact and enjoy well-rounded lives during their time at the college.

Support Services Are Offered at Five Towns College

The Academic Support Center is available to all students at no additional cost. Tutoring services are available to students and specialized support services are provided to students who qualify. Students who require specific accommodations in order to ensure academic success have access to the MORE Program, the purpose of which is to meet the needs of students with minor learning disabilities. Students who require monitoring because of poor academic grades are provided services through the PASS Program, while economically disadvantaged students may qualify for the Higher Educational Opportunity Program (HEOP).

Internships and Job Placement Are Available at Five Towns College

Finding jobs in the entertainment industry can often be challenging. In order to help meet these challenges, Five Towns College provides a Career Services Center where a variety of job placement services are available to both current students and recent graduates. An Internship program is vital for gaining experience and connections in the entertainment fields, and they are doubly important for the growing number of companies who hire exclusively internally. Five Towns has integrated an internship requirement into a number of their degree programs, ensuring that students receive the experience that is so crucial to finding a rewarding career. In addition, job placement assistance is available in the form of connections, job postings, and a library of materials intended to help students and graduates build the skills they need to find exciting positions in their chosen fields.
