Overview

NYC's Fordham University, a Leader in the Liberal Arts, Offers More Than 60 Undergraduate Majors

Fordham, the Jesuit University of New York, offers a distinctive educational experience that is rooted in the nearly 500-year-old Jesuit tradition of intellectual rigor and personal respect for the individual. A Fordham education blends a challenging curriculum with the resources, culture, and energy of New York City—a unique combination by any measure.

The university offers 60 major areas of undergraduate study in the liberal arts, the sciences, the performing arts, and business administration in one of the world's most stimulating cities.

A pioneer in interdisciplinary degrees in the liberal arts, Fordham University creates powerful, cross-disciplinary learning experiences for undergraduates and graduates with collaborating faculty members from different departments. The programs prepare students for meaningful careers as sound and ethically centered leaders in a complex global society.

Since 1841, Fordham University has been an integral part of New York City's personality and character. More than 9,200 students are enrolled in undergraduate programs at Fordham's three traditional undergraduate colleges: Fordham College at Lincoln Center, Fordham College at Rose Hill, and the Gabelli School of Business.

Qualifying students have a unique opportunity to spend their first year in a progressive living-learning dormitory known as an Integrated Learning Community (ILC), which integrates Fordham's renowned intellectual tradition with experience-based learning with the residence hall community.

Whether they are residents or commuters, students take advantage of the university's prime location in New York City. Fordham constantly implements programs that explore the cultural, intellectual, and spiritual diversity of the city and beyond. It is hard to find a liberal arts college of undergraduate business school that offers such high-caliber programs in and outside the classroom in the renowned Jesuit educational tradition of excellence.

Highly Acclaimed Fordham University Faculty Challenge and Support Students

Fordham's international faculty members are leading scholars and researchers who regularly publish and present their pioneering research findings at national and international conferences. In keeping with the Jesuit University's commitment to excellence, professors create challenging learning experiences for undergraduates in classrooms, research labs, and on field trips around NYC.

Faculty members also serve as academic advisers, helping students choose stimulating courses from the core curriculum, decide on majors and minors, and take advantage of the expansive intellectual opportunities Fordham has to offer—including positions with one of the 2,600 New York-based organizations in the university’s internship program.

Fordham College at Rose Hill

Fordham College at Rose Hill (FCRH), the university's oldest and largest undergraduate liberal arts college, was founded in 1841. It was the first Catholic institution of higher learning in the northeastern United States. Located on the 85 green and Gothic acres of the Rose Hill campus and located across the street from the New York Botanical Garden and the Bronx Zoo, FCRH offers more than 60 undergraduate majors to 4,000 undergraduates.

Fordham College at Lincoln Center

Fordham College at Lincoln Center (FCLC) is a tight-knit liberal arts college located on Fordham's Lincoln Center campus. This Manhattan campus—located just steps from Central Park and Broadway—opened in 1968 as part of the Lincoln Square Urban Renewal Project, which also brought the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and the cultural center of NYC to the neighborhood. FCLC offers more than 60 undergraduate majors to 2,000 undergraduates, and the school's nationally recognized B.F.A. in Dance program collaborates with the world-famous Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, located just blocks from campus.

Fordham Gabelli School of Business

One of the nation's finest undergraduate business schools, Fordham's Gabelli School of Business is devoted to developing ethical business professionals who can effectively manage in various challenging leadership roles in our global society. Courses are offered at the Lincoln Center and Rose Hill campuses.

The added value of Fordham's undergraduate school of business is that it is in the geographic epicenter of international business. Fordham students are encouraged to spend a semester or a summer participating in international excursions, business internships, and service projects in Europe, China, and other countries.

A Rich Campus Life

More than 180 student organizations offer a remarkable range of activities. Student life programming reaches beyond Fordham's campuses and capitalizes on the resources of New York City and its mosaic of cultural experiences. An extensive athletics program includes 22 varsity sports and a range of club and intramural sports. Reflecting the values-centered education that is a Fordham hallmark, students complete more than 1 million hours of service annually.
