"Chicago Michelin Guide Restaurants" has ranked Kendall College 1st among area programs for preparing students for culinary arts careers. The School of Culinary Arts has also been awarded the Academy of the Culinary Arts Cordon d' Or - Gold Ribbon Cooking School of the Year Culinary Academy Award.

Additionally, Kendall College has been ranked the number 1 program for preparing students for hospitality management careers by Chicago's leading hotels. Kendall College has also ranked 3rd on "SuperScholar Smart Choice's" list of the top 25 online early childhood education programs.

Kendall College has been a leader in education since it was founded in 1934. Today, the college is devoted to providing students with programs and opportunities to turn their passions into professions. Programs at each of Kendall's 4 schools -- Business, Culinary Arts, Education, and Hospitality Management -- use an immersive, hands-on approach to provide students with the professional skills and knowledge employers value most.

Required professional internships provide practical real-world experiences and opportunities. In addition, Kendall's flexible degree programs allow students to complete their degrees on a full or part time basis, and many also offer a combination of weekend and online schedules.

School of Culinary Arts

The nationally acclaimed School of Culinary Arts at Kendall College equips students with top-rate culinary skills as well as comprehension in business management and communication, preparing graduates to excel in leadership positions within the foodservice industry. The school's $60 million Riverworks Campus features 12 professional grade teaching kitchens, accomplished and award-wining faculty, specialized chocolate/sugar and garde manger kitchens, an outdoor bread oven, and a Zagat-rated, Michelin Guide recommended fine-dining restaurant open to the public and staffed with Kendall students.

The School of Culinary Arts offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Culinary Arts, which may be completed with a concentration in nutrition. The school also offers 3 Associate of Arts and Science (AAS) programs: the AAS in Culinary Arts, the accelerated AAS in culinary arts, and the AAS in Baking and Pastry.

Culinary arts graduates have taken positions at such establishments as Blue Plate Catering, Disney, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, L20, Labriola Bakery, and the Ritz Carlton. Alumni have also made it to finalist positions on "Top Chef: Texas," "Iron Chef," and the World Cup of Baking.

BA of Hospitality Management Program Available in 7 Concentrations

The School of Hospitality and Management at Kendall College educates future leaders of the global hospitality industry through comprehensive experiential and theoretical learning, collaborative opportunities, and 2 professional internships. Programs are designed for working students, and are offered through a combination of online coursework and 5 on-campus Sundays per quarter.

The School of Hospitality Management offers a BA in Hospitality Management in 7 concentrations: hotel/lodging management; beverage management; restaurant/food and beverage management; sports management; sustainable management in hospitality and tourism; global hospitality management with Glion certificate; and meeting, incentive, convention, and exhibition (MICE).

Study abroad opportunities allow students to complete internships at the best institutions within the United States and all over the globe, including locations in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Australia.

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, hospitality careers have experienced the greatest increase in starting salaries of any field in the country. Kendall graduates have taken positions at Global Hyatt Corporation, Harrah's Entertainment, Princess Cruises, Trump International Hotel and Tower Chicago, and Walt Disney Resort.

Kendall's Flexible Business Degree Available in 2 Concentrations

The Kendall College School of Business prepares students to succeed in globally conscious leadership positions within a variety of service sectors worldwide. Courses draw on faculty member expertise and integrated industry connections to help students develop problem solving skills and business credentials. Students are immersed in real-world situations through the use of situation-based challenges, living case studies, management simulations, and integrative projects.

The School of Business offers a flexible BA in Business program that can be completed on campus or fully online. Concentrations are available in either management or small business management. Management course are designed to provide a solid foundation in areas such as business innovation and global leadership. Small business management courses prepare graduates to start and/or expand a small business, and cover topics including virtual business ventures and consumer behavior.

Recent BA graduates have taken positions at such prestigious companies as Apple, AT&T, Bank of America, Hyatt Hotels, and Innovative Event Designs.

Licensure, Non-Licensure, and Post-Baccalaureate Early Childhood Education Programs

The School of Education at Kendall College is committed to preparing teacher candidates who are equipped to meet the challenges in today's education setting. Coursework provides core knowledge and skills, while field experiences and clinical practices provide real-world opportunities. Flexible programs allow students and working professionals to complete their coursework on a full or part time basis, on campus, online, or both through Kendall's hybrid format.

The School of Education offers 2 BA in Early Childhood Education programs, one as a non-licensure program or and the other with Illinois teacher licensure. A post-baccalaureate Illinois Teacher Licensure Preparation program is also available. Each early childhood education program may be completed in one of 6 concentrations: childhood nutrition, English as a Second Language (ESL), infants and toddlers, grant management, small business management, and special education.

Student Life at Kendall College

Students at Kendall College have the opportunity to take advantage of many social activities and programs. The Office of Student Life at Kendall organizes many additional on- and off-campus activities, ranging from rock climbing to performing arts. Nearly a dozen active student organizations operate on campus, including the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH), the Garden Club, Kendall College Marketing Club, and Latinos Juntos. Kendall's housing option, The Buckingham, offers fully furnished luxury high-rise living just steps from the city's best festivals, restaurants, and entertainment.

Kendall's Career Services team helps students jump-start their futures through in-depth internships and building professional networks.

Financial Aid Opportunities for Kendall College Students

Kendall College offers many scholarships, awards, and tuition reductions to qualified students, based on their academic achievement, interests, financial need, and other criteria. Institutional scholarships include Kendall Achievement Scholarships for high school graduates nominated by their high schools, in addition to the Alumni Legacy Scholarship, Dean's Scholarship, and Presidential Scholarship. Several tuition awards and reductions are available, including community college transfer discounts, corporate education partnerships, institutional grants, and military discounts.
