Overview

Menlo College Has a Long History and an Innovative New Model for Business Education

Menlo College is known as one of the premier business schools of Silicon Valley. The college distinguishes itself by providing a business education with a liberal arts foundation, ensuring that graduates receive a well-rounded education. Menlo College was founded in 1927 as an all-men's college, It expanded in 1948 when it established the School of Business Administration in the wake of Stanford University's discontinued business program. By 1986, Menlo had developed full four-year programs in Letters and Sciences and had become a coeducational institution. Reorganization of the college began again in 1994, and by 2008 Menlo College had reestablished itself as a unique business college.

Silicon Valley's Importance to Business and Technology Opens Doors for Menlo Students

Menlo College's location makes it uniquely suited to provide the nation's best in business education. Silicon Valley is one of the most entrepreneurial and innovative areas in the country, and its importance in the world of business and technology is well known. Menlo is situated in the heart of this area, about midway between San Francisco and San Jose, and gives students easy access to internships and work experience during their time at the college. The area also provides a multitude of career opportunities close at hand after graduation. By focusing on business education and long-term planning, Menlo College helps students gain the advantage they need to enter into the business world in any economic climate. In addition, the San Francisco Bay area is one of the nation's most desirable places to live, with an excellent climate, culture, and renowned diversity.

A Small but Diverse Student Body and Vast Alumni Network Make Menlo College a Place for Making Connections

Developing connections is crucial for any student interested in achieving entrepreneurial or business success. Menlo College helps students foster the relationships and build the networks that will see them through to the achievement of their goals. The school's successful alumni base is dedicated to helping current students and recent graduates in every area of the country and around the world. With a maximum student body of 750 undergraduates, most of whom live on campus, Menlo students get to know one another and build friendships and acquaintanceships that give them a professional and personal advantage. With international students comprising 15 percent of the student body and representing twenty-three countries, Menlo's students expand their horizons as they attend classes and work alongside individuals from every background and from every corner of the world.

With Fourteen Bachelor's Programs Plus Specialized Degree Programs, Menlo Students Can Study What They Really Want

Within its business-oriented environment, Menlo College allows students to focus on one of many available areas of specialization. B.S. and B.A. degrees are available in fields from accounting, finance, and marketing to media management, sports management, and psychology. The individualized programs of study that are available let students develop curricula that suit their personal needs and interests and result in a B.S. or B.A. upon graduation. The college offers a professional studies program for working adults, and offers other flexible study options that can be tailored to individual requirements.

Student Life Outside the Classroom Contributes to the Advantage Earned by Menlo Grads

Within the context of a rigorous, liberal arts-based business education, Menlo students become intellectually prepared for success. The Menlo College experience extends well beyond the classroom, however, and there is a long list of ways in which students can get involved. Fully 40 percent of Menlo's students participate in NCAA sports programs, and there are a variety of club and intramural opportunities available. Student clubs and organizations are, as would be expected, some of the most innovative available. Students can participate in anything from an Entrepreneurship Society to clubs like the Hawai'i Club, Horror Film Club, Tennis Club, and Yoga Club. Becoming involved with other students and collaborating to bring innovative ideas to fruition helps students develop the interpersonal and leadership skills that they will take with them into the working world.

Accomplished, Knowledgeable Faculty Members Help Students Prepare and Develop Plans for the Future

The faculty members at Menlo College are dedicated to helping students achieve their potential as creators, innovators, and leaders in today's global environment. Professors are eminent in their chosen fields, and a low 15:1 student-faculty ratio ensures that students receive personal attention and guidance from these accomplished individuals. Faculty members display a commitment to developing graduates into well-rounded individuals who have the capacity to think critically, communicate strategically, and work as both team players and leaders. The mission of Menlo College is to mold students into men and women who will shape the constantly changing world they live in.
