Overview

Messiah College offers challenging academics, a wide variety of student activities and rich cultural experiences in a Christian community.

At Messiah College, students have plenty of fun and a lot of opportunities to interact with other students from 37 states, 28 countries and many Christian denominations. They can get involved in exciting and rewarding programs and activities, all while being challenged academically at a Christian college that consistently ranks among the top 10 "Best Regional Colleges" in the northeastern U.S., according to U.S. News and World Report.

Students at Messiah College can choose from more than 80 majors taught by accomplished Christian scholars, authors, artists and experts in their chosen fields. The College also offers six pre-professional programs, several 3+ (allied) programs in partnership with other institutions and a growing number of graduate programs. Some majors allow motivated students to graduate one or two semesters early, and teacher certification is also available in many disciplines. Qualified students may participate in the Honors Program or design an individual major or an independent study program. Recent Messiah graduates have distinguished themselves as Rhodes, Fulbright, Carnegie, Truman and Udall scholars. Messiah College offers more than 70 student clubs and organizations including, student-led ministries, student government, intramural sports, service and outreach teams, student-run newspaper, theatrical productions and traveling musical groups. Students can also enjoy residence hall activities, concerts, as well as many recreational and outdoor activities at several locations in the immediate vicinity, including the Yellow Breeches Creek, which flows through the campus, and the nearby Susquehanna River and Appalachian Trail.

Messiah's scenic, 471-acre campus in Mechanicscburg, Pa.,, is just 12 miles southwest of the state capital, Harrisburg. The College is home to 2,772 undergraduate students who thrive in a close-knit, residential community atmosphere yet easily can enjoy the cultural experiences and opportunities of nearby urban centers such as Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and New York City -- all of which are within a few hours driving distance of Messiah College.

Study Abroad programs in more than 40countries and service learning enhance the Messiah experience.

Learning doesn't just take place in the classroom at Messiah College. Messiah strives to have the world be its students' global classroom, and that's why international education and service learning are integral to the Messiah experience.

Messiah College's education abroad program is one of the best in the nation, currently ranking 14th among all undergraduate schools sending students to study abroad according to the Institute of International Education.

Messiah's Agape Center for Service and Learning cultivates experiences with community partners to prepare students for lifelong service. In 2012, an estimated 99 percent of the graduating class participated in some form of community service through the center. The College is ranked 7th in the nation among baccalaureate colleges for its commitment to community and public service according to the 2013 college rankings by Washington Monthly magazine.

Messiah's Division III athletics program attracts students committed to athletic excellence and Christian character.

Messiah College's athletic program is at the top of its game among NCAA Division III colleges. Messiah athletic achievements include 10 national championships in men's soccer, five in women's soccer and one in women's softball. The College also has been two-time national runners-up in women's basketball, and eight-time national runners-up in women's field hockey.

Messiah is the only school in NCAA history to win both men's and women's national championships in soccer in the same year -- not only once, but four times.

Of Messiah College's 22 intercollegiate, NCAA Division III athletic teams, women compete in basketball, cross-country, field hockey, indoor track and field, lacrosse, outdoor track and field, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis and volleyball. Men's sports include baseball, basketball, cross-country, golf, indoor track and field, lacrosse, outdoor track and field, soccer, swimming, tennis and wrestling.
