Oregon State University (Distance Education) - Overview
Ecampus distance learning program
Oregon State University Ecampus provides adult learners with access to a high-quality education no matter where they live. Thousands of distance students enroll in Ecampus' accredited degree programs and courses each year, all of which are taught by OSU's renowned faculty.
All Ecampus online courses and degree programs are designed by OSU faculty and are held to the same rigorous academic standards as the university's on-campus classes. OSU is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, and all Ecampus students who complete degree requirements receive the same diploma as campus-based students.
OSU's distance learners include full- and part-time students, working and retired professionals, community college students, active-duty and retired military, high school students and individuals who want to further their education with a single college course. Ecampus students and graduates hail from all 50 states and more than 20 countries worldwide.
Distance learning students at OSU's Ecampus typically communicate with instructors and each other via online discussion boards, forums, the virtual classroom and email. Most Ecampus courses are delivered through Oregon State's Blackboard (Bb) Learning Portal System. OSU is Oregon's largest public research university and the state's only land-grant university.
Costs and Financial Aid
Tuition fees for online courses at Oregon State University are $248 per undergraduate credit, and $478 per graduate credit, with additional technology resource and matriculation fees. Certain courses may also charge additional fees for required workshops. Ecampus tuition and fees are set at a rate to cover the direct cost of providing the course; therefore, graduate tuition remission (GTA, GRA), staff rates and certain scholarships may not be applicable.
Students may be eligible for federal financial aid through FAFSA, grants, loans and various scholarships.
Applications and Admissions
Prospective degree-seeking students must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0, and they must submit an online application with a $50 nonrefundable fee, official SAT or ACT scores, an insight résumé and an official high school transcript. Nondegree-seeking students also must apply online and submit a $25 application fee.
Application deadlines vary for each of OSU's four academic terms. Check the OSU Office of Admissions website for current deadline dates.
The admissions process at OSU takes approximately four to six weeks to complete after all required documents have been received by the OSU Office of Admissions.
