Overview

Why Park?

Park University is a fully accredited liberal arts institution founded in 1875. We offer the academic and professional advantages of a private college education at a very affordable cost (on par with most state universities). As a private institution Park's classes are small and engaging. At Park, you will see more, learn more and do more. You will study world markets, technologies, cultures and conflicts. More importantly, you will engage the world as never before. You will develop personal relationships with peers from across the region and every corner of the globe.

Where is Park University?

Park University is found in Parkville, Missouri, a small suburban town that is only 12 miles from one of the region's most up and coming urban areas, Kansas City, Missouri. Because of the location we offer a small, private and safe school with the benefits of a large urban district to experience culture, shopping, professional sports team and so much more. Downtown Parkville offers a multitude of restaurants from all different cultures and boutique style shops. Here on our beautiful Parkville campus we offer over 700 acres of stunning landscape speckled with academic, athletic and residential facilities for all students. The Parkville campus enrolls approximately 2,000 undergraduate students, representing students from across the country and over 100 countries. The student-to-faculty ratio is 12:1. Park's global annual enrollment exceeds 22,000 students.

Majors and Degree Programs

A full range of degree options let you tap into your passions, while still getting a well-rounded liberal arts education. Caring professors give you personal attention and prepare you for lifelong learning. Here at Park University we offer a variety of degrees at over 40 campus centers nationwide. What does that mean to you? It means nationwide name-recognition with alumni from across the country. Here at our campus in Parkville, Missouri we focus on your undergraduate experience with a four year degree from either our School of Business, School for Education, School for Natural and Applied Sciences, School for Arts and Humanities or School for Social Sciences. Within these areas there are over 80 degree programs with dedicated faculty and staff to help you be successful. We offer Associate's Degrees, Bachelor's Degrees and Graduate and Certificate Programs.

What if I Can't Decide on Just One Degree?

Park University's Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies major allows students to develop their own major by combining two different disciplines. It requires the combination of two minor degrees of study. One that is listed in the catalog and the other one either listed in the catalog or created by the student out of a set of courses that represent a body of knowledge. We also offer the option of a Personal Major in which students, with the appropriate institutional guidance, are allowed to construct an intensive learning experience that corresponds to their own needs. The Personal Major typically combines two or more disciplines or programs. Past Personal Majors include Historic Preservation with Graphic and Web Design, Asian Culture and History, and Political Journalism.

Degree With Honors Program and Study Abroad

Park University Degree With Honors Program features faculty highly motivated to work with the academically exceptional student. Program students receive one-to-one attention designed to realize goals including fulfilling leadership potential, contribution to local and global communities, internships, study abroad, graduate school and careers. At Park University we provide students the opportunity to experience first-hand the incomparable value of an international education. Through Park University's programs, you can study abroad for a week, month, semester or year in one of more than 30 countries, including Italy, Denmark, and Greece. Park offers both instructor-led programs and programs through the College Consortium for International Studies.

Campus Facilities and Equipment

At Park University we strive to offer our students a home away from home so whether you are able to live on campus in our state-of-the-art Copley Quad or you commute each day we want you to feel comfortable. Because of this we have our Pirate Fitness Center for student use, a library, several computer labs, a variety of classrooms and small faculty to student ratios so you can actually meet with your instructor and not a graduate assistant. There are three residence halls available on campus: Chestnut, Dearing and Copley Quad. A thriving residence life program lets you live with your friends and create a living space that is uniquely yours. Our underground library located beneath the Parkville Daytime Campus Center contains approximately 155,000 volumes, over 1,000 periodicals and approximately 4,000 reels of microfilm. The library is electronically networked to several colleges, universities, and city libraries so that students have access to over 2,000,000 volumes. We are very proud of our beautiful campus and feel that with the accommodations we offer you will be very comfortable and well prepared for your academic success.
