If you love animals, and want to help care for them and keep them healthy, veterinary medicine may be for you, and you should take a close look at pre veterinary colleges. While degrees from pre-veterinary colleges are not formally necessary for admission into veterinary school, students without such an undergraduate degree often find it very difficult to get into a vet school.
Here, you can jump-start your search for quality pre veterinary schools — schools with pre veterinary programs that will greatly increase your chances of getting into the veterinary school of your choice. A college program that prepares you for veterinary school will include a strong foundation in the sciences, and will typically require you to take courses in organic and inorganic chemistry, physics, biology, animal biology, zoology, and related subjects. In addition, some pre veterinary colleges also require calculus, English, and business management.
Following a successful stint at one of the many quality pre veterinary schools, you will study for about 4 years to gain a DVM or VMD degree, after which you can get your license and enter private practice. Many graduates choose to enter 1-year internships after getting their degrees.
