Queens College of the City of New York (QC CUNY) is a public, liberal arts college in Flushing, NY, offering bachelor's and master's degrees in over 100 areas, as well as certification in a number of specialties. Its low tuition, financial aid opportunities, and academic excellence make it attractive to undergraduate students.

Queens College provides a challenging academic environment through its degree programs in arts and humanities, mathematics and natural sciences, social sciences, and education. The college also offers certificate programs in education, library sciences, and psychology.

A Faculty for Education

The Arts and Humanities Division

Students enrolled in the Arts and Humanities Division receive an in-depth understanding of the world around them. This division offers an interdisciplinary program of learning that provides an historical and multicultural perspective on the human condition.

It includes 17 programs, offering classes toward degrees in popular majors such as English, American studies, art, and drama. In addition, students can earn degrees in majors not offered by smaller undergraduate institutions, such as linguistics and communication disorders and Byzantine and Modern Greek studies.

The Division of Social Sciences

The Division of Social Sciences offers a Bachelor of Business Administration program with majors in finance, international business, or actuarial studies for business. Degrees are also available in public administration, accounting, law, journalism, politics, and education.

This division offers some of the most popular programs at Queens College because of its success rate preparing students for advancement to graduate and professional schools.




Top Facilities for Science and Mathematics

The 8 departments comprising the Division of Mathematics and Natural Science prepare students for careers in research, teaching, and practical application in the fields of biology; chemistry and biochemistry; computer science; family, nutrition, and exercise sciences; mathematics; physics; psychology; and environmental sciences.

This division offers TIME 2000, a four-year secondary mathematics teacher preparation program that qualifies students who complete the coursework and the New York State examinations to begin teaching mathematics in grades 7 through 12.

The campus houses the Neuroscience Research Center and the Center for the Biology of Natural Systems which offer state-of-the-art equipment and the opportunity for students to receive extensive research experience.

The Aaron Copland School of Music and Music Education

The Aaron Copland School of Music provides Queens College of the City of New York students a wide-ranging opportunity to develop an understanding of and appreciation for music, whether they intend to pursue a career in music or simply wish to enhance their enjoyment of it. Offering majors in performance and cultural music, as well as a liberal arts music major, the school presents a schedule of musical programs throughout the year.

The school houses the Queens College Music Library, which has over 32,000 books on music history, theory, and other aspects of music, and an extensive collection of LPs, CDs, DVDs, and videos. It provides access to almost 4,000 digital and printable music scores through the online Classical Scores Library and over 50,000 tracks from almost 4,000 classical music recordings through the online Classical Music Library.

William E. Macaulay Honors College

Queens College of the City of New York is one of 7 CUNY colleges participating in the William E. Macaulay Honors College of the City of New York. High achieving students that qualify for the Honors College participate in a program that provides free tuition, an academic expense account, mentors, internships, a free laptop, and access to special seminars and study abroad options.

A City College with an Active Student Life

Queens College of the City of New York's beautiful 77-acre campus, with its abundance of trees and grassy spaces, has the feel of a suburban campus even as it offers breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline.

With the 2009 opening of The Summit, its 506-room residence hall, the school now offers on-campus living. Primarily a commuter college, however, QC CUNY makes a great effort to give students a sense of community.

It is home to over 100 clubs and teams on campus and an extensive schedule of arts programming, guest speakers, and art exhibitions. In addition, it is the only college in the CUNY system with a Division II sports program, with 20 men's and women's teams and first-rate athletic facilities available to all students.

Just through the gates of the Queens College of the City of New York campus, students have a wide variety of ethnic restaurants and shopping opportunities within walking distance. Nearby neighborhoods are home to the Queens Museum of Art, Citi Field (home of the NY Mets), and the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center (home of the U.S. Open Tennis Championship).
