RWU School of Engineering, Computing, and Construction Management

Bristol, Rhode Island, is host to Roger Williams University's renowned School of Engineering, Computing, and Construction Management. This school is home to RWU's engineering, computer science and construction management majors, each leading to the Bachelor of Science Degree. Students graduate with an extensive and effective background in the social sciences and humanities as well as a strong foundation in mathematics, the physical sciences, engineering science, and engineering design. All majors are designed to provide flexibility for courses of study and ultimately, future careers.

Programs of Study in Engineering at Roger Williams University

Students at Roger Williams University enjoy the versatility of the engineering major. The can earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree with an option to specialize in a specific concentration, rather than mandating a specific course of study. Students may specialize in civil, computer, electrical or mechanical engineering. Faculty members work with students individually to understand their educational and career goals and to customize both their educational plans and extracurricular experiences to meet their individual expectations. Career opportunities for the program's engineering graduates include positions with architect-engineering design firms, consulting engineering companies, and industry. Programs of Study in Computer Science at Roger Williams University

Roger Williams University computer science graduates are well positioned to pursue careers in the rapidly expanding computer software and manufacturing industries. The computer science major is designed to prepare students for either professional employment in the computer science and programming fields or for graduate study in computer science. Students receive a thorough grounding in modern computer science theory and learn how this theory can be applied to the design of complex software systems.




Programs of Study in Construction Management at Roger Williams University

The construction management major represents an industry that brings together numerous independent businesses and trades to create and build. The constructor works closely with engineers, architects, and sub-contractors throughout the construction process to assure timely completion of a project. RWU's dynamic program provides technical education such as graphics, equipment, materials, planning, and estimating techniques; extensive computer applications exposure; and the fundamentals of business management techniques. Upon completion of the plan of study, all students have also earned a minor in business. RWU is a member of the Associated Schools of Construction. The construction management program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE).

The mission of the School of Engineering, Computing, and Construction Management is to deliver the highest quality undergraduate professional educational experience, enabling Roger Williams University graduates to excel in the practice of their professional discipline or the pursuit of an advanced degree. As a result, no matter which major a student chooses, he or she will receive a well-rounded education at Roger Williams University. Students in the School of Engineering, Computing, and Construction Management will also take classes in the Feinstein College of Arts and Sciences (FCAS), which is the cornerstone of a Roger Williams liberal arts education.

All of the School of Engineering, Computing, and Construction Management degree programs incorporate the University Core Curriculum, which assures students of an extensive and effective background in the social sciences and humanities. The engineering, computer science and construction management programs augment this core with substantial requirements in mathematics, the physical sciences, engineering science, and engineering design.

While highly structured, some flexibility is possible through elective courses. This is true especially in the engineering program where, through appropriate elective course selection, a specialization in civil, computer, electrical, or mechanical engineering may be earned. School of Engineering, Computing, and Construction Management programs provide opportunities for students to participate in an internship program and both provide an excellent base for pursuing a graduate education.
