Location

Atlanta has so much to offer, it's difficult to mention it all here. But the word that best summarizes Atlanta is "energy" - the energy of the people, the vitality of the business community and professional opportunities, and the vibe of the arts and the nightlife. Atlanta's energy pulses through the streets, carries to every neighborhood, and helps to fuel creativity and imaginations.

Atlanta is known as the capital of the New South, and noted as the birthplace of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the host city of the 1996 Summer Olympics. For all intents and purposes, Atlanta started in the 1830s as a transportation hub. The city's story could have ended during the Civil War, but instead it rose from the ashes to become a center of commerce and one of the nation's economic and commercial powerhouses.

Today, Atlanta is a forward-looking city of industrious, innovative and creative people, a vibrant, exciting city where tree-lined neighborhoods are just minutes away from high-rise condos and skyscrapers housing Fortune 500 companies. Atlanta's thriving business environment includes high-tech companies, such as Earthlink, as well as corporate giants like Coca-Cola, CNN-Time Warner, Delta Air Lines, AT&T, and Georgia Pacific.

The city's performing arts district is located in the midtown area at the Woodruff Arts Center. Students can explore some of the country's most important art museums and institutions, including the renowned High Museum of Art, one of the most visited of its kind anywhere in the world. The Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) is the only design museum in the southeast, and there are also contemporary art museums like the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia.

At The Art Institute of Atlanta, students have access to a wide range of professional sports. Those who are into baseball can take in a Braves game at Turner Field. Football? The NFL's Falcons play at the Georgia Dome. For basketball fans, the Hawks of the NBA and the Dream of the WNBA both play hoops at Philips Arena.
