Location

Fort Worth has historic stockyards, remarkable museums, a thriving and exciting downtown area, the Texas Motor Speedway, and spectacular annual events. It's also a stimulating environment for students to begin their creative careers at The Art Institute of Fort Worth.

Fort Worth began in 1849 as a lonely Army outpost on a bluff overlooking the Trinity River. Today Fort Worth still embraces its proud western heritage and traditional architecture and design.

The city is home to many multinational corporations including Bell Helicopter, Lockheed Martin, Pier 1 Imports, RadioShack, and FUNimation Entertainment, among others.

Downtown Fort Worth is known mainly for its Art Deco and Beaux Arts-style buildings. A popular place for nightlife and entertainment, the Sundance Square area of downtown offers many restaurants, shops, museums, bars, clubs, movie theaters, performing arts, concerts, and festivals all year round. Most of the buildings there retain their early twentieth-century facades.

Fort Worth is home to several visit-worthy museums. The Kimbell Art Museum not only features an outstanding collection of works, the building itself is considered to be among the world's foremost examples of modern architecture. The Museum of Modern Art and the Amon Carter Museum offer some of the most extensive collections of American art anywhere in the world.

The Fort Worth Zoo, with more than 5,000 animals, has been ranked in the top 10 zoos in the United States. For hiking or canoeing enthusiasts, the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge in northwest Fort Worth has nearly 4,000 acres of natural area and is one of the largest urban parks of its type in the country.

As for pro sports, the Metroplex is home to the Dallas Stars of the NHL and the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, while Cowboys Stadium houses the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL. The ballpark for a Texas Rangers game is just a short drive to Arlington, where Six Flags Over Texas is also located. In addition, NASCAR racing at the Texas Motor Speedway, championship rodeo, and horseracing are available at Lone Star Park.
