Location

From the Indy 500 to Fortune 500 companies, Indianapolis is a city of positive energy. It's an energy that flows through the streets, carries to every neighborhood, and fuels the creativity and imaginations of students at The Art Institute of Indianapolis from the first day of classes till they take all that they've learned and step out into the real world.

The campus is located in the northwestern section of the city and housed in The Pyramids, a unique local landmark. The buildings are famous for their abstract, sculptural design: Their opaque concrete walls face the nearby highway, while their glass curtain walls look out onto landscaped grounds.

The city offers friendly people, a vibrant business community with a world of professional opportunities, a wide range of cultural attractions, and a lively nightlife. The twelfth-largest city in the United States, Indianapolis is one of the nation's fastest-growing metropolitan areas. The city's downtown is ranked as one of the best in the United States by both Forbes and Livability.com.

There are six cultural districts: Broad Ripple Village, Massachusetts Avenue, Fountain Square, The Wholesale District, Canal and White River State Park, and Indiana Avenue. Harrison Center for the Arts features monthly shows in its galleries, as well as numerous artists' studios. The beautiful Depew Memorial Fountain has been described as a museum without walls. Indianapolis has a wide variety of other museums as well, focused on art, automobiles, sports, history, and science and technology.

The Indianapolis Cultural Trail is an urban bike and pedestrian path connecting the downtown cultural districts, neighborhoods, and entertainment venues. There are benches, bike racks, lighting, signage and bike rentals/drop-offs, along with an interesting assortment of local artwork along the trail. Indianapolis also offers nearly 200 municipal parks, including Eagle Creek Park, one of the biggest urban parks in the country.

Indianapolis is world-famous for the Indianapolis 500, the premier open-wheel car event for over 100 years. The enormous Indianapolis Motor Speedway is also home to the Brickyard 400 and the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix. Other professional sports include Colts football at the enclosed Lucas Oil Stadium and Indiana Pacers basketball at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
