Location

The Art Institute of Pittsburgh is nestled in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh's Golden Triangle, formed by a confluence of rivers that once marked the fringe of the American frontier. Today, Pittsburgh has emerged as one of America's most livable cities--a renowned leader in health care, technology, education, robotics, the arts, and career opportunities.

Pittsburgh offers a patchwork of diverse styles and nationalities, sprung from the roots of a steel town where people came from around the world to build better lives. Distinctive neighborhood enclaves like Deutschtown and Polish Hill present a sense of both old-world charm and budding potentia--especially for creative professionals eager to make their mark in a unique landscape primed for change.

Downtown is a jigsaw puzzle of old and new architecture, ready to be captured by sketch pad or camera. On the fringe is the legendary Strip District, home to a wealth of ethnic grocers and street-side cafes. Each year the city's Oakland, Squirrel Hill, and Shadyside neighborhoods swell with thousands of students drawn to the colleges and universities that make Pittsburgh a top destination for higher learning.

Pittsburgh is home to many classic movie houses, featuring the latest blockbusters as well as the best independent and foreign films. It also has a rich history as host to an ever-growing number of Hollywood productions.

Of course, Pittsburgh is synonymous with the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins with their exciting home stadiums, but home also to the Andy Warhol Museum and the Carnegie Science Center.
