Location

The Art Institutes International-Kansas City is located in the heart of a city whose nickname is City of Fountains, which makes sense, considering the fact that there are over 200 fountains there--more than any other city outside Rome.

Kansas City also has more boulevards--132 miles of them--than any city except Paris, leading to another moniker, Paris of the Plains. And because K.C. is at both the population and geographic center of the country, it's also known as the Heart of America.

But no matter what nickname is used, Kansas City is a dynamic city that features a vibrant arts scene, world-class attractions, and an eclectic mix of shops and boutiques. It's well known for barbecue--K.C. has more barbecue restaurants per capita than any other city in the country--and jazz. In fact, that particular music genre has been big in this town since the 1920s, having launched the careers of artists like Count Basie, Bennie Moten, and Charlie "Bird" Parker.

The city's commitment to its parks and landmarks is well known throughout the country, making it one of the most beautiful cities in America. Kansas City has over 200 urban parks, more than 100 tennis courts, and 30 public swimming pools as well as world-class museums, a vibrant arts scene, and superb shopping.

Since it first opened in 1857, the City Market has been one of the biggest public farmers' markets in the entire Midwest, connecting farmers and small businesses to Kansas City's communities. More than thirty merchants are open year-round, offering everything from specialty foods to seafood, from restaurants and cafes to home accessories.

In the world of sports, Kansas City has teams in every professional sport from soccer to roller derby. Baseball's Kansas City Royals play their home games at Kauffman Stadium, and the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs operate right next door at Arrowhead Stadium--the first stadium ever to show instant replay on its scoreboard.
