Overview

Introduction to the Valley Forge Military Academy & College

Valley Forge Military Academy & College (VFMA&C) is a private, co-educational, residential college that offers the freshman and sophomore years of college, and also operates as an all-male boarding academy offering grades 7-12 and postgraduate.

VFMA&C Preps Students for Competitive 4-Year Colleges and Universities

The primary mission of the VFMA&C is to prepare students for transfer to competitive 4-year colleges and universities.

Established in 1928, VFMA&C has a long tradition of fostering personal growth through a comprehensive system built on the five cornerstones that make Valley Forge unique: academic excellence, character development, personal motivation, physical development, and leadership to all students regardless of race, creed, or national origin.

The diverse student body represents more than 31 states and 24 countries. VFMA&C has an excellent transfer record, with 99 percent of cadets accepted to their first or second choice schools.

Academics and Alumni

The VFMA&C curriculum emphasizes college preparation. The academy offers advanced placement, honor, and enrichment courses, as well as opportunities for classes in the college. Success is fostered through small classes, with a faculty-student ratio of 12:1, easy access to a wide range of academic support programs, and a structured academic environment.

Valley Forge is the alma mater of such distinguished alumni as: author J. D. Salinger, '36; former U. S. Senator Warren B. Rudman, '48; GEN H. Norman Schwarzkopf, '52, Commander of Operation Desert Storm; former Governor of Puerto Rico, The Honorable Rafael Hernandez Colon, '54; 14-time Grammy winner Jimmy Sturr, '60; New York Jets NFL player Aaron Beasley, '92; Rhodes Scholar Westley Moore, '96, '98C; and 2003 Heisman Trophy runner-up and 2004 third overall NFL draft pick Larry Fitzgerald, '02.

Valley Forge Military College is the only college in the northeastern United States that offers qualified freshmen the opportunity to participate in an Early Commissioning Program, leading to a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves or Army National Guard at the end of their sophomore year.

The U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and the U.S. Naval Academy have all sponsored cadets through their Foundation Scholarship Programs and other programs to attend Valley Forge Military Academy & College. In 2012, 100% of our sponsored preparatory cadets received appointments to their selected service academies.
