Overview

Vaughn College: An Excellent Choice for Degrees in Engineering, Technology, Management and Aviation

Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology is a private, four-year college committed to providing its students with the excellent education and skills needed to achieve professional success in engineering, technology, management and aviation. Founded in 1932, the College, adjacent to LaGuardia Airport, is a small, high-quality institution where students can experience personal attention as they progress through their academic course work.

The College fosters a culture of excellence in which rigorous degree, professional, technical and certification programs are offered. These programs, built upon the college's aeronautical heritage, incorporate the latest technology and meet the universal needs of the industries they serve. The result is well-educated graduates who are successful in their fields.

The College's student body of nearly 2,000 and its low, 16:1 student-faculty ratio ensure a highly personalized learning environment. More than 95 percent of Vaughn College graduates are employed or continue their education within one year of obtaining their degrees, and they work in 20 countries and in all 50 states.

On September 1, 2004, the College of Aeronautics became Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology. The new name reflects the College's aviation heritage as well as its future as an expanding academic institution, with new programs that include a bachelor's of science in mechatronic engineering and a master's in airport management. The name change is part of the College's strategic plan that also includes plans for a new library, additional degree programs and other improvements to the campus.

Above and Beyond: Living and Learning in New York City While Attending Vaughn College

Vaughn College is conveniently located across from LaGuardia Airport in New York City. The College offers numerous internship opportunities with an array of technology, manufacturing and aviation companies. For students, New York City presents opportunities not found elsewhere. Vaughn College students intern at companies such as Federal Express, FlightSafety International, IBM, Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum; Sikorsky Helicopters, ORBIS and United Airlines. The cultural, spiritual and physical needs of the students are met by the outstanding facilities of New York City.

Students routinely experience the international flavor of Chinatown, Little Italy and many other ethnic neighborhoods of New York City. The city's hospitals and other medical facilities are among the best in the world and its world-famous museums focus on arts, natural history, science and world civilization.

Vaughn students match cutting-edge programs offered on campus with other opportunities to live and learn, such as settling in at the three-story, 200-bed residence hall; watching the runways of LaGuardia Airport and the New York skyline from the on-campus observation tower; and getting in a workout at the student fitness center. There is so much to see and do that students quickly realize why New York is the city that never sleeps.
