Overview

A Highly Rated School for Business Education

Webber International University is a small, private business school in Babson Park, Florida. Webber earns top marks for academics, value, and community. "The Princeton Review" includes Webber on its Best Southeastern Colleges list. "U.S. News and World Report" has ranked the University as one of the best colleges in the nation for business education. InsideCollege.com ranked Webber as a college of distinction, based on the University's teaching, student engagement, campus community, and successful outcomes.

A Close-Knit Community with International Appeal

Webber was founded as a women's business college in 1927 by entrepreneur Roger Babson, and has maintained and expanded its focus on business instruction ever since. Webber became co-ed in 1971.

Students will find a small, connected community at Webber, where the undergraduate body of about 520 includes students from 47 countries. The faculty plays an active role in the Webber community. The student to faculty member ratio is 24:1, and faculty members teach all classes.

Rural Citrus Country Setting Near Florida Attractions

Webber's 110-acre campus borders the northwestern edge of Lake Caloosa, also known as Crooked Lake, in the heart of central Florida citrus country. While Webber's setting is rural, its location is convenient to many popular attractions and major cities. Webber sits midway between Florida's east and west coasts, about an hour's drive from Tampa, Disney World, and Orlando, and approximately 2 hours from Daytona Beach.

Closer to campus, there are plenty of parks and recreation areas, including Lake Kissimmee State Park and Lake Wales Ridge State Forest. On campus, students can enjoy kayaking and canoeing, fishing, and beach volleyball along Crooked Lake.

A Broad Selection of Majors and Combined Degree Programs

Webber offers a range of Associate of Science (A.S.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree programs in Business Administration. These include accounting, computer information systems management, corporate communications, criminal justice management, finance, hospitality and tourism management, management, marketing, pre-law, and sport business management degree programs, as well as a bachelor's degree program in general business studies and a bachelor's of arts degree in elementary education.

Students at Webber can expand their knowledge by pursuing degree combinations. Any student working toward a 4-year degree may earn an associate degree in one area of study and a bachelor's degree in another.

Working adults who want to complete or continue their business educations can apply for Webber's McKenna Adult Program, which offers flexible A.S. and B.S. degree programs at specially reduced scholarship rates.

For students who plan to follow their B.S. degree programs with further education, Webber International University awards Master of Business Administration degrees in accounting, criminal justice management, international business, management, and sport business management.

A Challenging and Supportive Business Honors Program

Webber's by-invitation honors program is available to currently enrolled students and incoming students whose grades and test scores meet the program's standards. Honors program students enjoy priority dorm selection; special internship, seminar, and career-advisement opportunities; and an annual scholarship.

Scholarships and Work-Study Opportunities

Webber has several scholarship options available to qualified students. Merit-based scholar awards are granted on a sliding scale to incoming freshmen and transfer students. Talent and leadership scholarships are open to applicants who demonstrate achievement in areas including student publications, leadership, and Future Business Leaders of America.

Ellison Work Study scholarships are an option for students who have on-campus jobs during the school year. Webber also offers scholarships based on athletic achievement, family alumni status, and personal accomplishments.

Local, Regional, and International Learning Opportunities

Students at Webber can earn practical experience through internships. The school's hospitality and marketing departments have internship programs with major retail stores, both in Florida and in other states. Finance students can intern with the financial departments of local corporations and institutions.

Other practical learning experiences include courses in which students observe and analyze the operations of area companies and then present their findings as professional business consultants would. Summer semesters abroad are arranged by the school's departments to let students see international business practices firsthand.

An Active, Engaged Campus Community

Webber's small community gives each student the chance to get involved and have an impact on campus life. Clubs and organizations like Phi Beta Lambda (the university counterpart of Future Business Leaders of America) and Society of Hosteurs for hospitality students give students a network for the college years and beyond. Student groups also organize trips to Universal Studios as well as beach parties, movie nights, and other social events.

The school's athletic teams, the Warriors, are part of the Sun Conference and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Webber fields 40 intercollegiate men's and women's teams and offers intramural sports for all students. The school's fishing team, the Bassin' Warriors, hosts and competes in collegiate bass-fishing tournaments. Students can stay fit and socialize at Webber's gymnasiums, 2 fitness rooms, soccer field, and pool.

Business-Focused Career Placement and Support

Webber's emphasis on practical, real-world education and experience extends to its career placement services. At the McClendon Career Services Center, students can take advantage of one-on-one advising, cover letter and resume writing help, and practice interview sessions to prepare for the post-graduation job search.

Webber's American Language Institute extends special job-preparation support to the school's international students. The institute's ESL courses are designed to help Webber students refine their English writing, reading, and conversational skills for professional life.
