Hufstedler School of Education Ed.D. (Educational Leadership and Management Doctorate) Produces Leaders and Visionaries
Alliant International University is a nonprofit institution, founded in 2001, that prepares students for professional careers in education, business, psychology, and forensics. Its Hufstedler School of Education (HSOE) offers the Educational Leadership and Management doctoral program (Ed.D.) at the university's Sacramento, San Francisco, Fresno, Los Angeles, Irvine, and San Diego campuses.
Candidates entering this program will immerse themselves in ethical leadership, organizational and governance practices, multicultural and global educational trends and practice, curriculum theory, and research. Doctoral candidates complete their program with a specialization in cross-cultural studies, leadership in higher education or K-12, educational technology, or a customized emphasis of their own design.
A comprehensive exam is taken in the last semester of coursework. All Ed.D. candidates must successfully complete the comprehensive exam prior to enrolling in the dissertation sequence.
Excellent Research Facilities and Resources Support Immersive Study in Educational Leadership and Management Program
Alliant International offers excellent research facilities throughout its system. The university's libraries maintain a diverse and accessible collection of more than 160,000 books, 1,150 current print journal subscriptions, 12 electronic database subscriptions, approximately 995 psychological test titles, 1,700 audiotapes, and more than 1,200 videotapes. Each campus library is a resource for a wide variety of research topics, and works in cooperation with other four-year institutions in its immediate area to allow Alliant students to access materials.
Each academic school or college also has research clusters, labs, and/or other resources to support original scholarly endeavors and many forms of applied research. The computer lab and learning centers have a number of computers available for student use, outfitted with current versions of word processing, statistical, and other software programs and connected to state-of-the-art laser printers. The collaborative environment encourages a collegial atmosphere and a camaraderie that promotes support among and between students and faculty.

Internships, Work-Study, Part-Time Jobs, Loans and Scholarships Mix It Up in Alliant's Innovative Financial Aid Packages
Alliant offers financial aid to qualified students, typically as loans, scholarships, and grants that are funded by the federal and state governments, Alliant itself, and several different private sources. Federal and state financial aid funds are only available to students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Student financial aid packages normally take the form of loans, but can also include scholarships and student employment. Alliant, in fact, has developed an excellent set of work-study and employment programs in which students can earn money from on-campus positions in admissions and field placement, part-time jobs in the community, and teaching/research assistantships.
Most students who take school-based financial aid will engage in college work-study, work a part-time job, or receive a research/teaching assistant stipend. While there are a limited number of teaching and research assistantships, there is a broad array of funding opportunities that can be combined in various ways. There is always a way that the cost of tuition, books, and fees can be offset for qualified, hardworking graduate students so that they can work toward a doctorate and a meaningful, fulfilling career.

The philosophy of the Educational Leadership and Management program is that leadership is the ethical pursuit of becoming and remaining a positive change agent within organizations, while recognizing, encouraging, and supporting the efforts and contributions of all staff. Leadership encompasses a thorough command and practical grasp of proven educational and managerial theories, while using critical analysis and social justice to power an ongoing process dedicated to improving existing systems - and creating entirely new ones.
The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Management prepares administrators and leaders for assuming primary responsibilities in public, charter, and private schools, state departments of education, local and national educational nonprofits, private advocacy organizations, and other entities. With a doctorate in educational leadership, you may also choose to pursue a career in higher education as a professor, researcher, consultant, university administrator, or college dean.
Hufstedler School of Education Offers Educational Leadership and Management Doctorate (Ed.D.) in Six California Cities
The Educational Leadership and Management doctoral program (Ed.D.) is offered at Alliant's Sacramento, San Francisco, Fresno, Los Angeles, Irvine, and San Diego campuses. Each city has a special personality of its own, offering students a range of styles and atmospheres from which to select.
Sacramento, of course, is the state capital, located in California's central valley. Once called a "cow town," Sacramento is a modern city with an NBA franchise, first-rate art galleries, scholastic centers, and recreational pastimes that often involve the Delta - fishing, boating, and other water sports.
San Francisco is a truly international city, overlooking the bay and exuding a cosmopolitan charm. It is a multicultural, dynamic, active, and activist community, at the leading edge of art, music, politics, and culture--mainstream, pop, and "counter," too.
Fresno, located toward the southern side of the central valley, is roughly halfway between Los Angeles and Sacramento. It is an agricultural center of great productivity and renown, and the foothills just east of the city lead to Yosemite National Park in the Sierras.
Los Angeles, of course, is the media center of the world, with film, television, radio, and publishing among its biggest industries. From the beaches and the coastal mountains to the Angeles National Forest, everything in the way of recreation and outdoor fun is available, pretty much year-round, from art and music to theme parks and surfing.
Irvine is a thoughtfully managed community in Orange County, south of Los Angeles. A center of research, education, and high technology, Irvine has clean parks and innovative businesses dotting a landscape that runs from the inland foothills to the sands of Huntington Beach.
Near the Mexican border, San Diego is the southernmost gem of the California coast. With a number of universities, extensive library resources, and advanced research institutes, it is an educational center as well as a top vacation destination. A wide range of cultural, pro sporting, and entertainment events are available in this city.
