The program introduces students to basic clinical skills that integrate individual and group theoretical foundations of applied psychology into appropriate client interaction and intervention skills. The M.A. in Community Counseling program is designed to provide students with a sound foundation for the practice of community counseling, with a multifaceted focus on developmental and preventive mental health services. Graduates of the program may be eligible for department of education certification and will be prepared for employment as school psychologists. The Ed.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision program aligns with the master’s-level counselor education programs in order to encourage entry-level counseling students to work toward becoming doctoral-level advanced practitioners, educators, and supervisors.
