For acceptance into the M.S./CIS program, students must have completed an undergraduate degree in business within the last five years with a GPA of at least 2.7 or have completed two semesters of accounting and two semesters of management courses within the last five years. Three years of work experience in the field of information systems are also required.

M.S. Program in Computer Information Systems Offers Courses from Five Career Track Course Sets
The 36-credit M.S. in Computer Information Systems curriculum consists of 18 credits of required courses: Information Systems Strategy; Data Management; Business Design and Object-oriented Analysis; Communications and Networking; Integrative Information Systems Seminar Capstone; and Enterprise Architecture. Depending on their needs and preferences, students choose 18 elective credits from among general electives and five specialized Career Track Course Sets that consist of data management, database integration, networks and telecommunications, information systems security, and electronic commerce.
The Data Management Career Track includes Database Architecture and Administration, a course that teaches students to develop databases on web-based platforms and networks.
The Data Integration Career Track features courses such as Data Warehousing and Data Mining and Business Intelligence and Knowledge-based Systems.
The Networks and Telecommunications Career Track features courses in Network Design and Implementation; Information Systems Security; and Advanced Topics in Information Security.
The Information Systems Security Career Track comprises courses in the increasingly critical area of Information Systems Security and Advanced Systems Security. The course work focuses on technological and organizational techniques to secure computer hardware, software, and data, including local area networks and web-based systems.
The Electronic Commerce Career Track features Electronic Commerce Implementation, a comprehensive exploration of the implementation of e-commerce within a company. Topics include infrastructure design; server management; marketing; and the use of emerging technologies, methods, and tools.
