Rutgers SMLR Program Offers Students Masters Degrees in Human Resource Management and Labor and Employment Relations
Rutgers' Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) program is internationally renowned for research and teaching in the areas of strategic human resource management, global employment strategies, new approaches to worker involvement, and the transformation of work. In fact, the faculty members in the MHRM program are among the most published and cited in the country regarding HR research.
Students in the MHRM program take courses like HR Strategy, Business and Competitive Strategy, Measurement Issues, Global Workforce Strategy, HR Decision Making, Financial Decisions, Data-Based Decisions, HR Functional Areas, Managing Workforce Flow, Developing Human Capital, Managing Rewards Systems, HR Context Areas, Economics and Demographics of Labor Markets, Employment Law, and Managing the Global Workforce.
The Master of Labor and Employment Relations (MLER) program offers a similar program exploring globalization, contingent employment, workplace justice, collective bargaining, and more. By combining intellectual exploration with professional training, graduates of the MLER program are grounded in reality and prepared to become researchers, professionals, and leaders in the public policy arena.

Rutgers Lets Motivated Students Complete the Master of Human Resources Management Degree in a Single Year
Although the MHRM degree normally takes two years, students willing to put in extra hours can finish the degree in a year and a half. In addition, undergraduate students in the organization management major at the Rutgers School of Business can take specific courses as undergraduates and complete the MHRM degree in a single year, if accepted into the MHRM program. A similar five-year arrangement also exists with Rowan University, and similar arrangements are being made with The College of New Jersey and Stockton College.
Graduate Students at Rutgers Have Many Financial Aid Options, Including Fellowships, Internships, and External Funding
Graduate students at Rutgers have a number of options to help pay for tuition. Need-based financial aid is available from a variety of sources, ranging from loans and grants to fellowships and scholarships. In addition, there are several fellowships available at the university level, including a Presidential Fellowship, and students are strongly encouraged to participate in internships.
Rutgers also has a special "Chaser program" that assists graduate students in chasing and applying for external funding. It helps graduate students secure over $2 million per year in grants and fellowships.
