Programs of Study
Argosy University, Sarasota, offers the Master of Arts in Education (M.A.Ed.) degree in educational leadership and instructional leadership; and the Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in educational leadership and instructional leadership; and the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in community college executive leadership, educational leadership, and instructional leadership.
The M.A.Ed. in Educational Leadership program is designed to instill key philosophies, theories, and values that impact education. It prepares students to improve policies and practices within organizations through the motivation and supervision of others. Students develop skills needed to design, implement, and evaluate educational programs and curricula. Courses include educational law, educational finance, organizational communication, human resource management, instruction supervision, and organizational management.
The M.A.Ed. in Instructional Leadership program examines the challenges and problems encountered in today’s educational environment. Course work encompasses the historical, philosophical, psychological, social, technical, and theoretical aspects of education. Students develop skills in analysis, oral and written communication, problem solving, critical thinking, team building, and computer technology. The program is designed for those who wish to develop or enhance classroom skills, become curriculum supervisors, or become educational leaders with a focus on instruction.
The Ed.S. in Educational Leadership program concentrates on applied organizational theory within the context of educational organizations. This specialized program develops the competencies required to secure educational administrator positions at the elementary or secondary school level.
The Ed.S. in Instructional Leadership program enables experienced teachers to become more effective practitioners and educational leaders with a focus on instruction. Course work is designed to satisfy the requirements of students seeking career advancement and those who are working toward a doctoral degree.
The Ed.D. in Community College Executive Leadership program offers an accelerated course of study intended to meet the needs of community college administrators who are looking to move into senior administrative positions (such as president, vice president, dean, and director) in community colleges.
The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership program is designed to enhance educational leadership strengths. Students learn innovative and collaborative techniques used to manage and govern educational institutions. The program prepares students for administrative leadership positions at the district, regional, state, or national level. Students must choose a concentration in higher education administration or K–12 education.
The Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership program draws upon educational theories and practices to help students discover new learning techniques for diverse audiences. Students enrolled in this program master teaching methodologies, hone classroom skills, and gain the knowledge required to become curriculum administrators or educational leaders with a focus on instruction. Students must choose a concentration in education technology, higher education, or K–12 education.

Research Facilities
Argosy University libraries provide curriculum support and educational resources, including current text materials, diagnostic training documents, reference materials and databases, journals and dissertations, and major and current titles in program areas. There is an online public-access catalog of library resources available throughout the Argosy University system. Students have remote access to the campus library database, enabling them to study and conduct research at home. Academic databases offer dissertation abstracts, academic journals, and professional periodicals. All library computers are Internet accessible. Software applications include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SPSS, and various test-scoring programs.
Financial Aid

Living and Housing Costs
Students typically live in apartments in the metropolitan Sarasota area. Living expenses vary according to each student’s preferred standard of living, housing, and transportation. The University does not offer or operate student housing. Most of the students are full-time working professionals who live within driving distance of the campus. Several nearby hotels offer special rates for students when they attend one-week in-residence intersessions. Location
Located in northeast Sarasota, the campus is specifically designed for postsecondary and graduate-level instruction through a unique combination of in-residence course work, tutorials, and online study courses. Several of the programs are off-site tutorials and intensive one-week classroom sessions. Students may also complete up to 49 percent of the work of some degree programs via online courses that allow interaction with faculty members and classmates from any Internet connection.
Sarasota is recognized as Florida’s cultural center and is home to a professional symphony, ballet, and opera as well as dozens of theaters and art galleries. Well-known vacation attractions such as Disney World, Busch Gardens–Tampa, and the city of Miami are within a few hours’ drive. The area enjoys mild winters and endless summer beauty.
The business sector in the Gulf Coast community helps make it one of the top 20 places to live and work. ASO Corporation, Nelson Publishing, and Select Technology Group are among the numerous companies headquartered in Sarasota County.
