CIBU Excels at Developing Graduates with an International Perspective
As one of a small number of free-standing international business schools, California International Business University continues to provide a business education that fosters the development of an international perspective, enabling graduates to function more effectively in the growing transnational business world.
While CIBU's programs are based on traditional business principles, they also respond to the environmental changes that can impact an organization's economic, social, political, or cultural focus.
Faculty members incorporate practical applications, case studies, and independent learning and research to give students the tools they need to become successful business leaders and entrepreneurs in the greater global business community. The result is a dynamic learning environment with a truly global perspective.
Graduate Studies Focus on Understanding Business in a Transnational World
CIBU's M.B.A. program is designed to train students to understand accounting, legal, and management issues in international corporations, as well as entrepreneurship opportunities and challenges. The program provides an understanding of the dynamics of organizations in a transnational world and the ability to work as a member of a multicultural team.
The M.B.A. program is a thirteen-course, 65-quarter-unit program that can be completed in twelve to fifteen months. Students are required to complete nine core courses in specific academic areas plus four additional elective courses.
The Master of Science in International Management (M.S.I.M.) program is designed to provide students with the management and economic skills to secure employment as business managers in a global economy. The M.S.I.M. program trains students to understand human resource and legal issues associated with international business, to analyze economic indicators, and to function effectively in a multinational business environment.
The M.S.I.M. program at CIBU is an eleven-course, 55-quarter-unit program that can be completed in twelve months. Students are required to complete seven core courses in specific academic areas plus four additional elective courses.
The Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A.) program is designed to provide qualifying students the opportunity to achieve a doctoral degree in the field of business administration. This professional doctoral degree combines relevant course work and a research dissertation.
The D.B.A. requires the completion of twenty-seven courses plus the submission of a dissertation. Students who have completed the CIBU M.B.A. may complete fourteen additional courses, plus the dissertation, to earn the D.B.A.
CIBU Offers Cross-Cultural Experience through Diverse Student Body
Students who attend California International Business University bring special and unique combinations of international experience, talents, and skills, including languages, cross-cultural experiences, multinational and entrepreneurial work experiences, and differing cultural perspectives.
Most students are non-U.S. citizens who have professional backgrounds that include international business experience and are training to become managers and/or entrepreneurs in a transnational organization. Therefore, graduates of the program are prepared to enter into various positions in the international marketplace or in transnational organizations, including management positions, entrepreneurial roles, or senior administrative positions.
Research Facilities Allow for Ready Access to Current Business Information
CIBU offers a library with relevant and focused materials to better help the student and staff have the most successful experience possible. Fully staffed with professional librarians who are trained to assist students in their research, the library quickly becomes one of the most useful tools available to each student.
It is a quiet and comfortable space which provides access to international, national, and local periodicals such as: Harvard Business Review, Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, Journal of Business Communication and Business Communication Quarterly, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Journal of Marketing and Journal of World Business.
In addition, students receive access to 10,100 company profiles from Datamonitor and EBSCO's Business Source Elite database with full text coverage of over 1,000 scholarly business, management, and economics journals. CIBU has also partnered with other San Diego universities to provide the ability for students to access their resources.
