Detailed Information
Programs of Study
In today’s rapidly changing business environment, managers’ responsibilities are increasingly complex. Technological advances, increasing demographic diversity, and global competition have prompted an ever-growing need for highly skilled and adaptive managers in all fields. As one of the nation’s largest M.B.A. programs, DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management offers a curriculum that provides a unique blend of management theories and concepts and helps students apply these ideas to the realities of everyday business. Keller’s faculty consists of practicing business professionals–leaders in the corporate community as well as in the classroom. These professionals bring business contacts as well as hands-on knowledge and experience to graduate students.
The M.B.A. program at DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management requires successful completion of sixteen courses (3 semester credit hours each). These include four management core courses, one quantitative course, and five program-specific courses, one of which is an integrative capstone course. Also required are six electives, which may be chosen from accounting, e-commerce, educational management, finance, general management, health services, human resources, information security, information systems, international business, marketing, project management, public administration, and telecommunications. The curriculum provides a solid business management foundation in critical areas such as information technology, leadership, new product development, and project and change management.
Keller’s students are working adults who have multiple real-world demands. Class hours are designed to accommodate work and family responsibilities. Classes are offered in eight-week sessions during each of the three semesters per year. Courses are delivered in blended or all-online formats. In the blended format, students and faculty members meet face-to-face on-site for 3½ hours per week, on either weekday evenings or Saturdays, and also participate in an average of 2 hours of instructor-guided online activities. The all-online format integrates today’s high-tech capabilities with proven methodology through DeVry University’s Online Center. Whether individual courses are taken or entire degrees are earned online (http://online.keller.edu), students receive a solid education enhanced by the latest in interactive information technology (computer-mediated e-mail and threaded conversations, videotapes, and the Internet). Students can send feedback to and receive feedback from instructors as well as participate in various group and team activities with fellow online students. Distance learning courses demand the same dedicated student efforts as traditional classroom-based courses. Online students read course materials, write papers, conduct applied research, and take exams. Students have access to the same full range of support services they would receive if they were attending a traditional location.
For students who wish to complete their M.B.A. in less than 1½ years without disrupting their work week, the M.B.A. program is offered in an accelerated format on Saturdays. For students who wish to specialize in business administration without completing the entire M.B.A. degree program, a certificate option is available.
Research Facilities
A variety of accommodations are offered at all of the program’s locations, and all provide comfortable areas in which to study, relax, and learn. Most centers include spacious classrooms, student lounges, and convenient hours for computer labs and information centers. The information centers, many of which are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, offer Internet access to 300 databases, alternative texts, student study guides, career service materials, and periodicals.
Financial Aid
Keller M.B.A. students may apply for both subsidized and unsubsidized Federal Stafford Student Loans.
Cost of Study
At current rates, tuition per course (3 semester credit hours) differs by state, ranging from $1845 to $2100. After acceptance, new students pay a $100 deposit, which is credited toward the first term’s tuition. Tuition is payable in full at registration or in installments of two or three payments (with small handling fees for the latter two choices). Books and materials average $175 per course.

Location
DeVry University offers graduate programs at more than eighty locations nationwide as well as online, enabling adult students to continue their education while continuing to meet their other responsibilities. In addition, having so many locations and options to choose from enables students to continue their programs of study even after job transfers, temporary assignments, or other relocations with the least possible disruption to their academic schedules.
Centers are located near major metropolitan areas with accessible transportation routes, keeping commuting time to a minimum. There are one or more centers in each of the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
The School
The Keller Graduate School of Management was founded in 1973 on the idea that the most important components of management education are effective teaching and student mastery of practical management skills. In addition, the School has a long tradition of, and commitment to, serving working adults that is reflected in the flexibility and tenor of its programs.
Applying
For regular admission, applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree (in any field) from a U.S. institution that is accredited by, or in candidacy status with, a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (international applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a U.S. baccalaureate degree); pass the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) or Keller’s alternative admission test; complete a personal interview with an admissions representative; and complete a written application. Applicants with postbaccalaureate degrees from accredited graduate schools must complete an application and an interview as well as document their degree. An admissions test is not required for these applicants.
Students may begin their program in either of the two 8-week sessions offered each semester. There are three full semesters each year, beginning in July, November, and March. There is no application fee.
The Faculty
- Keller faculty members are working professionals who are effective communicators, coaches, and mentors as well as practitioners with extensive management experience. They deal with cutting-edge business and management issues and bring their expertise to the classroom, emphasizing theories, practices, and issues that most benefit students in the working world.
- The faculty includes both part- and full-time instructors. Those who teach full-time commit most of their working hours to teaching and curricula development while remaining actively involved in business as consultants and participants in professional organizations. Part-time instructors are full-time managers whose teaching provides adult students with vital professional enrichment and perspectives. All faculty members have developed contacts and relationships with a variety of academic and professional fields and geographic locations. The relationships students develop with these instructors often lead to mentoring arrangements, professional contacts, and even job offers.
