The Master of Education at GCU Is a Respected Program with a Challenging Curriculum
Grand Canyon University was founded as a teacher's college in 1949. It has five-decades of experience in preparing educators and administrators. As the largest college at GCU, the College of Education offers progressive Master of Education degrees. Master's-level coursework for teaching was established within the university's online learning system. The respected Master of Education degree from Grand Canyon University is based on a strong program with a challenging curriculum. The College of Education has the approval of the Arizona Department of Education to offer programs that lead to teacher credentials.
The internship, practicum, and student teaching programs provide valuable field experience. The university's Office of Field Experience assists students with placement as student teachers at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Student teaching allows candidates to demonstrate their expertise as related to Arizona's Professional Teacher Standards as well as Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium standards. The office also aids in placement of educational administration interns. Some education courses require practicum experiences ranging from 15 to 45 hours per course. Students are asked to fulfill practicum requirements in diverse educational settings and various grade levels for a broader range of experiences.
