National University of Health Sciences has set standards of educational excellence in health career education since 1906. Today, National University of Health Sciences campuses in Lombard, Illinois and St. Petersburg, Florida provide a dynamic atmosphere where students and faculty of diverse medical specialties can work together as colleagues.
National University of Health Sciences offers several degrees in the exciting fields of natural medicine, including a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine (available on both campuses), a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, a Master of Science in Acupuncture, and a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine.
National University of Health Sciences also offers certification programs for massage therapy and chiropractic assistants.
National University of Health Sciences: Educational Excellence
Whether you attend class in Lombard or St. Petersburg, National University of Health Sciences maintains the nation's highest entry standards for many of its programs. For example, National is the only chiropractic school to require completion of a bachelor's degree prior to admission. Over 98 percent of the faculty at National University of Health Sciences hold PhD, DC, or MD degrees, and the student to faculty ratio in most classes is quite low.
Both National campuses boast several specialized facilities dedicated to health science education.
Students in the DC and ND graduate programs study anatomy via a full year of human dissection in a fully-equipped gross anatomy laboratory. The main campus in Lombard, Illinois boasts a library of over 13,000 volumes, as well as extensive journal and database subscriptions covering a broad range of health sciences.
National was also the first in its field to provide an onsite MRI facility, and is now fully equipped for digital diagnostic imaging.
National University of Health Sciences: Career Preparation
Currently, National University of Health Sciences is a leader in the growing field of integrative medicine. Integrative medicine brings specialists from all fields of medicine together to work toward the best outcome for each patient and the health care delivery system as a whole. That's why National University of Health Sciences trains students in Lombard and St. Petersburg to work collegially with, not compete against, other medical professionals.
National is also a center for scientific and clinical research in chiropractic and other health sciences, receiving numerous federal and private research grants, and publishing three scientific peer-reviewed and indexed journals. The university also offers extensive post-graduate training including continuing education courses, medical residencies, and residency-based master's degrees in diagnostic imaging or advanced clinical practice.
The university prepares its students to succeed in the real world of health care. Students entering health care professions must complete rigorous internships in one of the university's four clinics, or through hospital clerkships or pre-approved preceptorships with local physicians.

National University of Health Sciences main Lombard campus boasts 35 beautifully landscaped acres in a quiet suburb of Chicago, Illinois. The Lombard campus offers housing for students, and is within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, and entertainment options.
There are also over 27 student organizations on the Lombard campus devoted to athletic, social, fraternal, and professional activities, as well as a student fitness center. Additionally, NUHS is just minutes away from the cultural, sports, and exciting entertainment offerings of Chicago.
National University of Health Sciences now offers its DC degree in Florida on the campus of St. Petersburg College as part of St. Petersburg College's National University of Health Sciences Partnership Center.
St. Petersburg College DC students receive the same excellent curriculum offered in Lombard, and have a wide range of clinical internship options as well. National University of Health Sciences students at St. Petersburg College can avail themselves of all the amenities of St. Petersburg College's campus, as well as the recreational and cultural offerings of the greater Tampa Bay area.
University of Health Sciences also offers several interactive Campus Visit Days at St. Petersburg College and Lombard, and information sessions throughout the year, and those interested can schedule personal tours of the campus and its programs through the National University of Health Sciences Office of Admissions.
