Quinnipiac University's School of Health Sciences at the North Haven, Connecticut, campus offers pioneering, cutting-edge Master of Health Sciences (M.H.S.) degrees. Health Sciences Master's Programs Are Headquartered in State-of-the-Art Facilities
Quinnipiac's University's Master in Health Science graduate programs emphasize academic excellence in a student-centered community where health science is seen as both science and art. The holistic philosophy at the School of Health Sciences produces a stimulating education that is creative, goal-directed, and research-based. M.H.S. programs are offered in the School of Health Sciences' state-of-the-art building on the campus in North Haven. As students prepare for the challenging, in-demand positions in the burgeoning healthcare industry, they are only a short drive from the main Mount Carmel campus in Hamden and ninety minutes from New York City. "This facility has the best equipment available on the market today to teach students in our School of Health Sciences programs," said Edward O'Connor, the school's dean. "I think you will be hard pressed to find another university in the country that has facilities that rival this one."
Physician Assistant Master of Health Sciences Program Is Fully Licensed and Highly Ranked
Quinnipiac University's nationally recognized physician assistant master's program provides training for the most sought-after profession in health care today. A physician assistant is capable of performing diagnostic studies, assisting in emergency medicine, managing therapeutic plans, and taking patient's histories. They work in private practice, hospitals, extended care facilities, and other healthcare venues alongside physicians.
Already during their first year, students are paired with a graduate physician assistant or physician one day each week so they can apply their growing knowledge while caring for patients. The 60-credit curriculum involves students in an extensive network of fieldwork experiences in hospitals, medical centers, extended care facilities, and nursing homes. Fully licensed by the state of Connecticut, the program is placed number 14 out of 138 programs in the U.S. by "U. S. News & World Report."
Pathologists' Assistant Master's-Level Program at QU Is One of Only Six in the United States
Quinnipiac's M.H.S. program for pathologists' assistant is currently one of only six master's-level programs of its kind offered nationwide. The pioneering program is a response to the healthcare industry's increasing demand for pathologists' assistants. The fully accredited, six-semester curriculum reflects a collaborative partnership with the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Haven, Connecticut, and other local and regional hospitals.
Classroom study and clinical training prepares students to carry out increasingly sophisticated procedures, examinations, and determinations in laboratories and medical research centers. During the first three semesters, students focus on their course work and attend weekly conferences at the V.A. Medical Center in West Haven. The conferences orient them to hospital lab settings and prepare them for intensive clinical training the following year. When not attending classes or working with tutors, students are trainees in the V.A. laboratories and other partnering hospitals for practical training in anatomic pathology.
One of Four in the Country, Radiologist Assistant Program Helps Meet Dramatic Gap Between Demand and Available Service
The radiologist assistant master's degree program is the only such program offered in the Northeast, and is one of four in the entire country. Nationally, salaries for radiologist assistants with master's degrees are double those of radiology technicians with bachelor's degrees.
The program's accomplished faculty consists of medical doctors, radiologists, attorneys, pharmacologists, physicists, and Ph.D.s with expertise in imaging modalities, procedures, patient care, management, pharmacology, and anatomy. Students complete approximately 1,500 hours of clinical experience at New Haven-area hospitals, medical centers, and clinics during the 56-credit program.

Quinnipiac's Master of Health Science program in biomedical sciences and medical laboratory sciences offers a robust program in biomedical, biotechnological, and laboratory sciences with specialty tracks in biomedical sciences, laboratory management and administration, and microbiology. The program provides the training necessary for graduates to be current with today's rapidly changing technology.
The curriculum addresses the cutting-edge knowledge, techniques, and skills needed in biotechnology, molecular biology, molecular and cell biology, medical research, and medical diagnostic settings. Students learn the principles and methods of scientific research that are so essential in a field that has breakthroughs in knowledge every year. The 35¿38 credit curriculum is structured so that students can work in a particular specialty or move among related medical laboratory sciences.

Cardiovascular Perfusion Master's Program Is One of Only Eight Graduate-Level Programs in the U.S.
Quinnipiac's 47-credit cardiovascular perfusion program is one of only eight graduate-level programs in the nation. The program's academic course work and rigorous clinical and lab work prepare candidates for the high-level responsibilities of the life and death situations they will face. The perfusionist consults the physician in the selection of equipment and techniques to be used during extracorporeal circulation. During cardiopulmonary bypass, the perfusionist may administer blood products, anesthetic agents, or drugs through the extracorporeal circuit.
The cardiovascular perfusion curriculum gives graduate students well-rounded didactic, laboratory, and clinical experience. During the program's clinical phase, which runs for three consecutive semesters, students rotate through a variety of clinical sites to assure adequate exposure to a wide variety of equipment and procedures.
