Brown Mackie College–Atlanta is one of over twenty locations in the Brown Mackie College family of schools (http://www.brownmackie.edu), which is dedicated to providing educational programs that prepare students to pursue entry-level positions in a competitive, rapidly-changing workplace. Brown Mackie College schools offer bachelor's degree, associate degree, certificate, and diploma programs in health sciences, business, information technology, legal studies, and design to over 14,000 students in the Midwest, Southeastern, and Southwestern United States.

Brown Mackie College–Atlanta is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. The Brown Mackie College–Atlanta Associate of Applied Science in surgical technology program is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (http://www.abhes.org).

Brown Mackie College–Atlanta provides higher education to traditional and nontraditional students through associate degree and diploma programs that can assist students in enhancing their career opportunities, broadening their perspectives through appropriate general education courses, thinking independently and critically, and improving problem-solving abilities. The College strives to develop within its students the desire for lifelong and continued education.

Each College quarter comprises twelve weeks. Associate degree programs require a minimum of eight quarters to complete. Programs are offered on a year-round basis, providing students with the ability to work uninterrupted toward their degrees. The College offers all programs in a unique One Course a Month schedule. This schedule allows students to focus studies on only one course for four weeks. This schedule has proven convenient for students with multiple obligations such as jobs and family.

Associate Degree Programs The Associate of Applied Business degree (96 credits) is awarded in accounting technology, business management, criminal justice, and paralegal. The Associate of Applied Science degree (96 credits) is awarded in early childhood education, health-care administration, medical assisting, occupational therapy assistant (100 credits), pharmacy technology, and surgical technology.

Diploma Programs The College also offers diploma programs (48 credits) in accounting, business, criminal justice, medical assistant studies, and paralegal assistant.

Tuition for the 2009–10 academic year is $285 per credit hour. The tuition for occupational therapy assistant program-specific courses is $310 per credit hour. The cost of textbooks and other instructional materials varies by program.

Financial aid is available to those who qualify. The College maintains a full-time staff of financial aid professionals to assist qualified students in obtaining financial assistance. The College participates in several student aid programs. Forms of financial aid available through federal resources include the Federal Pell Grant Program, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) Program, Federal Work-Study Program, Federal Perkins Loan Program, Federal Stafford Student Loan Program (subsidized and unsubsidized), and the Federal PLUS Loan Program. Eligible students may also apply for state awards and veterans’ educational benefits. Students with physical or mental disabilities that are a handicap to employment may be eligible for training services through the state Agency for Vocational Rehabilitation. There are 4 full-time and 5 part-time faculty members. The average student-faculty ratio is 19:1. Each student has a faculty and student adviser.

The College comprises administrative offices, faculty and student lounges, a reception area, and spacious classrooms and laboratories. Instructional equipment includes personal computers, LANs, printers, and transcribers. The library provides support for the academic programs through volumes covering a broad range of subjects, as well as through Internet access. Vehicle parking is provided for both students and staff members.

Brown Mackie College–Atlanta is located at 4370 Peachtree Road, NE in Atlanta, Georgia. The school also operates a learning site at 6600 Peachtree Dunwoody Road NE, 600 Embassy Row, Suite 130 in Atlanta, and is easily accessible from interstate highway I-285 and the MARTA Sandy Springs rail station.

Each applicant for admission is assigned an Assistant Director of Admissions who directs the applicant through the steps of the admissions process, providing information on curriculum, policies, procedures, and services and assisting the applicant in setting necessary appointments and interviews.

To qualify for admission, each applicant must provide documentation of graduation from an accredited high school or from a state-approved secondary education curriculum or provide official documentation of high school graduation equivalency. All transcripts become the property of the College. Admission to the College is based upon the applicant’s meeting the stated requirements, a review of the applicant’s previous education records, and a review of the applicant’s career interests. If previous academic records indicate that the College’s education and training would not benefit the applicant, the College reserves the right to advise the applicant not to enroll.
