The Art Institute of York–Pennsylvania provides students with an educational environment and dedicated faculty members who are committed to preparing students to pursue entry-level positions in the creative arts. Professional academic courses encourage the achievement of self-knowledge and the development of critical thinking. Under the guidance of industry professionals, students learn by doing the types of tasks they are likely to encounter in the workplace. In addition, assistance is available to help students with resume writing, networking, and keeping aware of what employers are looking for in job candidates.

Courses are taught in a studio or lab setting. While at the school, students can access the wireless network to check mail, hand in assignments, and work on a project, anywhere on campus. The school offers five bachelor’s degree programs and seven associate degree programs.

Location

The Art Institute of York–Pennsylvania is located in York, a suburban area in south-central Pennsylvania. Surrounded by sprawling hills and Amish farmlands, York offers visitors an abundance of shopping areas and museums and three centuries of American history, including battlefields from the Revolutionary and Civil wars. York is a 30-minute drive from Hershey and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; approximately a 90-minute drive from Philadelphia; and a 1-hour drive from Baltimore, Maryland.

Programs of Study and Degrees

Bachelor’s degree programs are offered in fashion & retail management, graphic design, interior design, media arts & animation, and Web design & interactive media.

Associate degrees are offered in animation, digital arts, fashion marketing, graphic design, interior design, kitchen & bath design, and Web design.

The Art Institute of York–Pennsylvania operates on a year-round, four-quarter system.

Academic Facilities

The Art Institute of York–Pennsylvania is housed within a 38,000-square-foot building in suburban York, Pennsylvania. The facility contains classrooms and studios, a student computer commons, a gallery, an art store, and a library.

In association with the York Martin Memorial Library, The Art Institute of York–Pennsylvania houses a 1,000-square-foot library on the first floor of the school. In addition to general reference books, the library houses titles specifically related to programs offered at the school. The library features interlibrary loan, CD-ROM-based reference materials, and PC business software for use by students and the public.
