The college offers over fifty majors, more than thirty minors, and several preprofessional and dual-degree programs, so students of every inclination can find an academic home. Students can choose from several distinctive interdisciplinary minors at Beloit, including Ancient Mediterranean Studies, Computational Visualization and Modeling, and Museum Studies, among others. The First-Year Initiative Ensures that New Students Feel at Home at Beloit and With Each Other
First year students are exposed to Beloit¿s First-Year Initiative regardless of their academic concentration. One of the school¿s most noteworthy aspects, the First-Year Initiative (FYI) is designed to introduce students to each other, to their academic advisers, to the school, and to the college experience in general. Beginning with New Student Days a week before the semester starts, FYI allows students to build connections and confidence and to feel at home on campus. The FYI seminar is an integral part of this process. It begins during New Student Days and continues throughout the fall semester as one of four fall-semester classes. This class helps students develop a love of learning and an ability to think critically and, most importantly, to discuss their thoughts in a mature, academic way with their peers.

An important part of personal and intellectual growth during the college experience is the opportunity to interact closely with accomplished professionals. The faculty at Beloit College is composed of members with the utmost talent in their fields. Faculty members in all fields regularly receive grants from a wide range of sources, and the list of faculty publications is always growing. Professors in art and art history are actively practicing artists with work being displayed around the country. Beloit College prides itself on the campus community it fosters, both in the classroom and out of it. Though almost all Beloit College students live on-campus, in housing facilities located on the school¿s forty wooded acres, the town of Beloit also has much to offer for students who need a break from the campus environment or choose to remain in town over the summer. For example, in addition to the several renowned museums operated by Beloit College, the city boasts the Wright Museum of Art, the Angel Museum, and a new Industrial Arts Museum, among others. History, culture, landscape, and recreation combine to make the town an ideal setting for a meaningful college experience. Located on the Rock River, the southern-Wisconsin town is situated in the midst of four major metropolitan areas. This allows Beloit to enjoy the resources, amenities, and cultural attractions common to large cities.
