Canisius College Undergraduate Colleges and Majors
The College of Arts and Sciences at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, is the largest and most diverse of Canisius' three academic divisions, with majors in the natural and social sciences, humanities, and pre-professional studies. It also houses the core curriculum, which strengthens fundamental critical thinking and oral and written communication skills and helps enhance students' understanding of other cultures.
The College of Arts and Sciences offers programs leading to bachelor's degrees in anthropology, art history, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biology, chemistry, clinical laboratory science, communication studies, computer science, criminal justice, digital media arts, economics, English, environmental science, European studies, history, international relations, mathematics and statistics, modern languages (French, German, and Spanish), music, philosophy, physics, political science, psychology, religious studies and theology, sociology, and urban studies.
The Canisius College Richard J. Wehle School of Business offers a well-rounded business curriculum to complement the liberal arts courses in the major, which gives the student an understanding of the broad and interrelated nature of business issues. There are programs leading to the B.S. degree in accounting, accounting information systems, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, information systems, international business, management, and marketing. The AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accredits all the business programs.
The School of Education and Human Services at Canisius College offers degrees that lead to teacher certification at the early childhood, childhood, middle childhood, or adolescent level, such as adolescence education, athletic training/sports medicine, childhood education, early childhood education, physical education, and special education. The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) accredits all programs.
Canisius College also offers diverse and flexible academic programs, such as fashion merchandising (in conjunction with the Fashion Institute of Technology), fine arts, and military science, and certification programs in gerontology and women's studies.
Pre-professional programs are available in dentistry, engineering, law, medicine, pharmacy, and veterinary medicine. Canisius College has an early assurance of admission agreement for New York State residents with the Schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine of SUNY Buffalo and SUNY Medical School at Syracuse.
Seven-year joint-degree programs exist between Canisius College and the SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, the SUNY College of Optometry, and the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.
A new five-year engineering degree program with SUNY Buffalo and Penn State Behrend allows students to get a bachelor's degree from Canisius College and the other institution.
In addition, a five-year combined-degree program leads to the B.A. in a major in one of the liberal arts disciplines and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

The internationally known Albright-Knox Art Gallery holds one of the world's finest collections of nineteenth- and twentieth-century American and European works of art. Buffalo is also home to the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Studio Arena Theatre, which provides a wide variety of theater experiences.
