An All-Women's Educational Design Allows Students to Learn, Achieve, and Be More
Since its founding in the 19th century, Cedar Crest College has offered an all-women's education curriculum to help each student reach her highest potential. Every aspect of the educational experience at Cedar Crest contributes to student development and leadership enhancement. Students are encouraged to: "learn more, achieve more, be more." At the college, students are asked to increase knowledge, utilize critical thinking, develop advanced research skills, gain awareness of global issues, and contribute to the community.
As students receive a challenging, all-women's education, they can choose from more than 30 fields of study. An attractive characteristic of Cedar Crest is its blending of academic programs in the traditional liberal arts with programs in advanced fields where women often are underrepresented. Students can explore a variety of interests and skill sets as they determine their degree program.
For the undergraduate, the college offers preparatory programs in law and medicine. It also awards degrees in areas from genetic engineering to art to accounting. A Multi-dimensional Experience Encourages Personal Development
The traditional classroom environment at Cedar Crest College serves as just one element in a uniquely fulfilling college experience. Students receive more than an education as they work toward their potential during coursework and co-curricular student activities. They receive multi-dimensional experiences on campus, creating an atmosphere of development and growth. Just as students explore a range of talents in classes, they also pursue interests through a myriad of organizations. This participation complements the scholarly aspect of campus.
The director of student activities interacts with organizations, scheduling events that allow students to develop or supplement skills outside the classroom. Student activities bring enjoyment of friendships and fun, yet they also create opportunities to apply knowledge. Volunteerism adds another facet to the multi-dimensional academic experience. An alternative spring break program gives students the chance to participate in national service projects. The Office of International Programs promotes activities based on intercultural experiences. In addition, this office supports study abroad programs and international internships.
Sports can be another way to draw a college community together, and the varsity Falcons teams are no exception. Students also team up for intramurals, sports clubs, and wellness classes. Long-standing traditions, such as the Big Sis-Lil Sis program, help students adjust to and learn about Cedar Crest life.
