Chadron State College (CSC), a state-supported college of approximately 2,800 students, is located on the southern edge of Chadron, Nebraska. Chadron itself is a northwest Nebraska city with a population of about 6,000. On the northern border of the Pine Ridge, Chadron enjoys two state parks, five lakes, and numerous ponds. Additionally, the city is surrounded by thousands of acres of national forest. Within this setting, CSC students have access to one of the most beautiful areas of the country and have plenty to do outside the classroom. The Nelson Physical Activity Center has an indoor track, three versatile courts, a weight-training room, a cardiovascular exercise room, three racquetball courts, and specialized classrooms for dance and gymnastics. The school is a member of NCAA Division II and participates in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Intercollegiate teams at CSC are committed to excellence; the football team are three-time champions in their conference, and all sports teams, including the intercollegiate rodeo team, are nationally competitive. Chadron, Nebraska, was named one of the 50 Best Outdoor Sports Towns in the nation for three consecutive years by "Sports Afield" magazine, and the town has also been recognized as one of the country's best mountain biking locations.

More than sixty clubs and organizations are available to students, including honor societies, student government, the "Eagle" newspaper, religious organizations, professional clubs, outdoor clubs, and international clubs. The Rural Health Opportunities Program Demonstrates CSC's Commitment to Nebraska and the Public Good
The Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP) is a cooperative program between CSC and the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The program's mission is to recruit and educate students from rural Nebraska, encouraging them to return to rural areas of the state to practice medicine. This program demonstrates a commitment and dedication to the education of Nebraskans and quality health care for the citizens of the state. Upon selection into the program, students are automatically pre-admitted into their specific program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. After studying premedicine at CSC, students can go on to become professionals in such areas as medicine, dental hygiene, physical therapy, and radiology.
Preprofessional Programs, Distinctive Minors, and Qualified Faculty Members Contribute to Educational Excellence at CSC
Chadron State College offers several exciting and unique academic programs. The school's most popular majors are in the health professions, education, and business. In addition, CSC offers a long list of preprofessional degrees in medical and veterinary fields, including chiropractic medicine, mortuary science, occupational therapy, and nuclear medicine. A prelaw program is also offered. Minors are available in agriculture, range management, and wildlife management, among other subjects. These academic programs are taught by a highly qualified faculty. There are 95 full time faculty members at CSC, with 74 percent holding terminal degrees in their fields.
