From the College
The Art Institute of Colorado has a mission to provide programs that prepare graduates to pursue entry-level jobs in the creative arts. Programs are developed with and taught by experienced educators, either in traditional classroom settings or through online courses. The school offers thirteen bachelor’s degree programs, seven associate degree programs, and two diploma programs. Continuing education is available through the Department of Continuing Education at The Art Institute of Colorado.
The student population includes recent high school graduates, transfer students, and those who have left a previous employment situation to study and train for a new career. Students are creative, competitive, and open to new ideas. They place great value on an education that prepares them for an exciting entry-level position in the arts.
The Art Institute of Colorado students come from across the country and around the world. They are dedicated men and women who strive for excellence. International students are provided assistance through the International Student Advisement Office. This office provides a variety of support services and enrichment activities designed to meet the needs of international students.
The school is committed to helping students throughout their education experience, both in and out of the classroom, with such issues as the transition to academic life and involvement in student activities. In addition, assistance is available to help students with resume writing, networking, and keeping aware of what employers are looking for in job candidates. A variety of support services are available to help qualified students with counseling needs and disability services.
Student Affairs offers a wide variety of student activities to encourage social networking and stress management, including social and athletic events, a quarterly student art show, and creativity-enhancing activities and field trips. In addition, most academic departments sponsor student chapters of professional associations, including the American Culinary Federation, American Institute of Graphic Arts, American Society of Interior Designers, Industrial Designers of America, and Colorado Game Developers Association.
The Art Institute of Colorado’s housing facility, the Towers, offers a variety of living accommodations in a fully equipped, partially furnished, apartment-style complex. An on-site professional staff member is available to coordinate activities and to help residents become acquainted with each other and with The Art Institute of Colorado.

The Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts program is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Foundation’s Accrediting Commission. Location
The Art Institute of Colorado is located in Denver, home to many major corporations and high-technology companies. Located near galleries, museums, and theaters, The Art Institute of Colorado provides easy access to music and dance performances at both the Performing Arts Complex and Red Rocks Amphitheater. Denver is a 1-hour drive from world-class skiing and water sports, amid the Rocky Mountains’ breathtaking scenery. The city itself offers ample opportunities for biking, hiking, in-line skating, and viewing professional sports.
Programs of Study and Degrees
Bachelor’s degrees are offered in culinary management, design management, digital filmmaking & video production, fashion design, fashion retail management, food & beverage management, graphic design, industrial design, interior design, media arts & animation, photography, visual effects & motion graphics, and Web design & interactive media.
Associate degree programs are available in baking & pastry, culinary arts, graphic design, kitchen & bath design, photography, video production, and Web design & interactive media.
Diploma programs are offered in baking & pastry and the art of cooking.
The culinary arts, fashion retail management, interior design, and photography programs are available in an evening and weekend option format.
Academic Programs
The Art Institute of Colorado offers Bachelor of Arts degree programs that are designed to be thirty-six months in length. Associate degree programs are designed to take twenty-one months to complete.
Academic Facilities
The Art Institute of Colorado computer labs contain more than 250 PC and Macintosh computers. Photography, audiovisual, and technology equipment is available for students to check out through the Media Services Department. Equipment includes analog and digital still cameras as well as audio and lighting equipment.
The library at The Art Institute of Colorado has a collection of 20,000 titles, including books, videotapes, DVDs, and magazines. The library subscribes to more than 200 periodicals and holds up to ten years of back-issue archives supporting major subject areas taught at the school. Tables for group work and Internet terminals for research are available in the library. The Service Bureau is an on-campus facility dedicated to meeting the printing and scanning needs of students.

Costs
Tuition cost varies by program. Prospective students should contact the school for current tuition costs. Other charges include a starting kit for all first-quarter students. Kits vary in price, depending on the program of study.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Students who require financial assistance should first complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and meet with a financial aid officer.
Faculty
The Art Institute of Colorado faculty members are professionals, many of whom have real-world experience in creative arts careers. The school’s faculty members encourage students to cultivate conceptual, creative, and problem-solving skills. There are full-time and part-time faculty members.
Admission Requirements
All applicants are evaluated on the basis of previous education, background, and stated or demonstrated interest in a career program. Applicants must provide high school or college transcripts and an essay of approximately 150 words stating how an education at The Art Institute of Colorado will help them attain their creative goals. Portfolios are welcome but not required. Applicants who have taken the SAT or ACT are encouraged to submit scores for evaluation. There is a $50 application fee.
