Felician College is an independent, Catholic Franciscan school in the liberal arts tradition, founded by the Felician Sisters of New Jersey. The Felician Sisters are a branch of the Third Order of St. Francis. The school offers academic programs for a coeducational population of students with diverse religious backgrounds. Students come to the college from varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. A diverse student body of undergraduate and graduate students arrives from throughout the U.S. and other countries. Felician College provides extensive English as second language programs to assist students at all program levels.

Students Receive Individual Attention in Small Classes Within Undergraduate Programs Built on a Crafted Core Curriculum
Four academic divisions at Felician College give students a valuable general education and offer degree choices from more than forty undergraduate programs. The Divisions of Business, Arts and Sciences, Education, and Nursing feature small classes and individual attention. Students benefit from individualized attention, even in core curriculum courses that meet the college's general education requirements. These small classes are instructed by respected and respectful faculty members who become acquainted with students and their intellectual interests.
The 12-credit core curriculum, developed for twenty-first century students, consists of four main interdisciplinary classes plus 20 hours of service learning. The core forms a "framework" for the Felician education. A ten-course, 36-38 credit general education in the liberal arts tradition then becomes the "foundation" for the balance of the students' education, equipping them with skills that are assets in a wide range of professions. Both the core curriculum and the general education classes are designed to enrich students' lives and careers.
In general education course work and academic programs, individualized attention has emerged as a Felician hallmark and is directly connected to the college's academic experiences. On average, the small class sizes number less than 15 students, so learning opportunities are enhanced. Students can be more involved with their undergraduate disciplines, whether they are gaining knowledge in communication, business, psychology, computer information systems, nursing, education, biology, or another field. Felician College also offers graduate programs, including those in nursing, education, and religious education. Felician Students Can Reach New York City Opportunities and Events Quickly by Train from New Jersey
Felician College operates two New Jersey campuses, only minutes apart, in the towns of Lodi and Rutherford. The beautifully landscaped campuses are nestled in suburban towns, only twelve miles from New York City and a few miles from the New Jersey Meadowlands sports complex. Iviswold Castle, a local landmark, is on the Rutherford campus. Students are surrounded by suburban neighborhoods and easy-to-reach shops and restaurants, but can board a train to New York City from a nearby station. The city's proximity can be an advantage for student's searching for internships and jobs. Students enjoy arts at the college theater or in the cultural centers of New York City and Manhattan. The college arts program includes trips to New York museums and interaction with cultural resources.
Students can enjoy the excitement of New York City with campus organizations, in their own groups, or on their own. These excursions could take them to Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Radio City Music Hall, or Wall Street. Manhattan is a world-class shopping district and sightseeing center. Students experience Broadway, Fifth Avenue, and Central Park. Freshman students learn more about trips into New York City and Manhattan during orientation. From ice skating in the Big Apple to visiting the New Jersey shore, the campus is a central starting point for fun.
