Georgian Court University unfolds on 156 acres where students participate in a community of learning. The campus, once the estate of railroad baron George Jay Gould, is in Lakewood, New Jersey, 10 miles from the Jersey shore, and only 60 miles from New York and Philadelphia. The campus is on the site of a National Historic Landmark filled with impressive statuary, historic architecture, and lush gardens.

New Jersey Transit provides bus service from the Lakewood Bus Terminal to New York and Philadelphia. Taxi service, available from the terminal to GCU, makes road trips an easy proposition.

The ambiance of the campus is a strongly moral one, thanks to the Sisters of Mercy. Their core values of respect, integrity, justice, compassion, and service imbue the campus with a values-based ethic, creating a campus environment that is safe and nurturing.

Georgian Court Students Take Courses in Arts and Humanities, Sciences and Mathematics, Business, and Education

Georgian Court University students benefit from the personal relationships that they build with faculty members. Faculty members are readily available for mentoring, and give students access to the individualized assistance that comes from working one on one. Class sizes are small, with a 14-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio. In addition, all classes are taught by faculty members, not by graduate assistants. Students at GCU get to know their professors in the university's four schools.

The School of Arts and Humanities explores the human experience as conveyed in religious, philosophical, historical, literary, linguistic, artistic, musical, global, and cultural traditions and perspectives. Students build critical thinking and communication skills, information literacy, and social responsibility while pursuing a major in art and music, English and writing, communications, history, geography and philosophy, humanities and modern/classical languages, or religious studies and theology. Students who major in dance can explore ballet, modern dance and jazz techniques, choreography, performance, and more.

In the School of Sciences and Mathematics, students pursue degrees in biology, chemistry and biochemistry, holistic health, nursing, physics, mathematics and computer sciences, psychology, social work and gerontology, sociology, anthropology, and criminal justice.

Georgian Court University Students Compete in Division II Athletics, and Join Student-Run Organizations for Catholicism

The GCU Lions compete in basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, track and field, volleyball, and tennis. Beyond athletics, GCU students pursue other interests in more than 30 campus clubs.

Several specialty groups exist for women, as well as for Catholicism. Those interested in campus ministry, Women Overcoming the World, or Campus Crusade for Christ have no trouble finding a place at GCU.
